#2. Leather Credit - from Patrick Sarne

Date: Wed, 16 May 2001 11:40:37 -0700 From: Patrick Sarne <patrick.sarne@hoylecapital.com> Subject: Leather Credit I know that the $500 leather credit moved the location of the ///M stripes, but didn't it also replace the quality or grade of leather? IIRC, the M3 would use the 'nicer' (Connelly, perhaps?) leather that the 7-series used. I find it hard to believe that BMW would give a $500 credit for simply relocating the stripes. #4. RE: [E36M3] Leather Credit - from David Ngo

Date: Wed, 16 May 2001 14:47:03 -0400 From: David Ngo <dngo@commvault.com> Subject: RE: [E36M3] Leather Credit The explanation that was given to me when I picked up my car was that BMW had run out of Nappa leather, so they used Montana leather instead. It's pretty easy to tell the difference - Nappa leather is smoother and softer than the Montana leather. Some cars with the leather credit did not have any stripes on the seats at all. These cars are entitled to have their headrests replaced at no charge with ones with stripes. My car came with the leather credit and stripes on the headrests. I didn't mind at all. :-) Dave > Date: Wed, 16 May 2001 11:40:37 -0700 > From: Patrick Sarne <patrick.sarne@hoylecapital.com> > Subject: Leather Credit > > I know that the $500 leather credit moved the location of the > ///M stripes, > but didn't it also replace the quality or grade of leather? > IIRC, the M3 > would use the 'nicer' (Connelly, perhaps?) leather that the > 7-series used. > I find it hard to believe that BMW would give a $500 credit for simply > relocating the stripes. > > Regards, > Patrick Sarne > San Diego chapter > 1995 M3 <-- leather getting old > 1992 Toyota P/U <-- cloth looks good! >

#6. Inspection II pricing - from Sean Burke

Date: Wed, 16 May 2001 14:56:07 -0400 From: "Sean Burke" <sburke@columbus.rr.com> Subject: Inspection II pricing I just scheduled my first InspectionII for my '98 M3/4. I was quoted a price of $638.46. How does this compare to anyone else's experience in the midwest area (I live in Columbus, OH)? Also, recently it appears that the shielding on my cat is rattling at idle. I'm assuming if the cat needs to be replaced that it would be covered under the emissions warranty. Has anyone experienced this issue, and the cooresponding warranty issue? Thanks! --Sean '98 M3/4

Has anyone experienced this issue, and the > cooresponding warranty issue? Yes, the cat is covered under the emmissions warranty, which is 8-years/80,000 miles, IIRC. I had my cat replaced under warranty at 74,256 miles. Cheers, Jim Bassett 1998 M3/4
