I'll let everybody know how they work later this month. I ordered a set of fronts, and will be running them on the car for 3 days at Laguna Seca (25th, 26th, 27th). They have no noticable effect on ride quality and from the looks of it this would be the last time you would ever have bushing failures. These are rather simple in that they essentially eliminate the lateral motion that over time rips the stock rubber bushings. I stand to gain nothing from this recommendation - just a satisfied customer. Just got my car back from getting a pre-track alignment and the front came out great with almost 0 toe and -2.5 camber. The rear however is also set to -2.5 camber which I think may be too much. Is it possible to have too much rear negative camber, at least in terms of cornering grip?. BTW, the car has stiff coil-overs and RD sway bars. TIA, Rob

The way it works out a similarly equipped E46 M3 usually costs about $8-9K more than an E36 M3 would have cost in 1999. And I think it's worth that much more but when faced with the reality of a $35K used car with 40K miles of factory warrantee left or a new car (if you can get one) with 90 more hp for $52K for instance... Many times a buyer for one is not a buyer for the other, the price disparity is too large. When the story was that the E46M3 would have all the goodies included for $45-46K I thought my car had lost a chunk of value but now I don't think so. Not that I think it has appreciated in ANY way since I bought it. I know 11 folks who have sold or bought M3's in the past 7 months and prices are back to where they were a year or so ago minus standard depreciation they were getting hit for... if that makes any sense at all. :) If I sell my M3 it will be to get a MUCH cheaper street car to help pay for racing sickness that has overcome me... so I ain't selling! Since I just bought an M3 I ran these numbers on both KBB and NADA for my options and mileage on my '97. I paid around $1000 over the "Trade-In" value as listed on both of these sites. Which, I'll grant you, is MUCH lower than the "Retail" figures. The numbers are not that far fetched, for my geographic area anyway. I just suggested you use them as a baseline. I was thinking that as you increase front camber, you probably want to reduce front toe. Rear toe can probably be considered independent of camber. I ask because my LWT has -3.5 up front and is maxxed out (?!?) at -1.0 in the rear, and I get really weird wear patterns, especially on the fronts -- it's like the inner 2/3rd of the tire are wearing just due to camber (i.e it's worn most on the inner edge, and rises up to little wear 2/3's of the way to the outside), and then it "falls off" down to the wear bars on the outer edge. I suspect my toe settings are wrong, but I can't confirm it. If anyone knows about this stuff in depth, I'd love to hear it -- thanks. -- ______________________________________ Andrew E. A small brass colored key was found at the San Diego auto-x. The blade is about 1" long. The head of the key has a brown rubber edge around it. One side is imprinted Hudson. The other side is imprinted with the number 8471. It was loose, not on a keyring. If it is yours, contact me. I will be tossing it within a week. Jim Powell
