I have long "toyed" with the idea of going to 18" wheels. 245/35-18 would be my first choice for tires. I'm sorry to hear that size is no longer available. I would NOT get the Goodyears. I've seen them. They don't look impressive at all. Plus, my opinion is Goodyear sacrifices traction for long life. I'll bet Goodyears will last longer than any other tire. Good for Interstate driving buy I'd rather have better traction and shorter tire life. Two other options. You could try 255/35-18. I see TireRack has 13 of them listed for sale. I'm pretty sure you can use that size on the rear. I've seen 255/40-17 and 255/35-17 used with no problems on the rear. The front might rub on the strut. If that is the case, then you could use spacers to move the tires out. The front has plenty of clearance at the fender. Only negative is you are starting to increase your tire diameter a good bit. You don't have a '95 M3 so you have a little shorter rear end ratio. The other way to go is 225/40-18. TireRack has 41 of them listed! That tire may appear smaller by looking at the numbers but I bet once you get it stretched onto the rim, it will look nearly as wide as your existing 235/35 MXX3 and performance will be virtually the same. Good luck! Let us know what you end up doing. Lowell Seaton '95 M3 - sticking with 17 wheels Dallas, Texas

But they can have a big impact on corner entry and exit balance which can certainly make the car feel completely different. And if you set the shocks up to get the car to either rotate or push a lot on corner entry, then you might carry that balance into the steady state phase because you've overloaded one set of tires. And how often are we in pure steady state cornering with no steering or throttle input and no bumps or changes in surface to upset the car? So in reality, yes. -- Ron Katona

BTW, >>the car has stiff coil-overs and RD sway bars. My '96 328is is setup with -2.6 front and rear. The car sticks like glue and wears tires evenly when used on the track. I have found this to be a very good setup for track driving (I run Eibach springs and sways and bilstein sports). That being said, for street driving you're probably going to go through tires front and rear because you'll wear away the inside edges of the tires. Before making the car into a club racer/dedicated track car I had about -1.0 up front and 2.25 in the rear. The car handled well on the street, but there was definitely increased tire wear in the rear. -Al 1996 328is - #328 JS

I know coilovers are adjustable, but if you set them to the highest setting (ride height), would the car sit lower or higher than the H&R/Konis? I had H&R/Koni on my car for about 1 year, but I live in Jersey and the roads are terrible, so the suspension travel was inadequate. On top of that, I would bottom out going over speed bumps. -Mark >Date: Thu, 17 May 2001 14:22:51 -0700 >From: "Kit Wetzler" <kitwetzler@mindspring.com> >Subject: suspension... > > > Version 4.0: H&R springs + Koni shocks + UUC sway bars + TC Kline camber > > plates + Ground Control rear shock mounts + TC Kline aluminum monoball > > rear trailing arm bushings > >Short of the UUC sway bars (I have stock) and Kmac instead of TC Kline >camber plates, I had this exact suspension.
