#1. ADMIN notice - repeat emails - from John Rather
Top
Date: Fri, 18 May 2001 10:06:35 -0500 From: John Rather <JRather@chemsoft.com> Subject: ADMIN notice - repeat emails Sorry about the repeat emails. This is due to bug in Microsoft Exchange Server. When outgoing email is sitting in the queue and the server is rebooted, it looks through the queue that was present before the reboot and resends the emails not only to just the email address that was sitting in the queue, but to every email address that was originally on that email; i.e., everyone gets the same digest/list email again. I reboot the server so seldom, I forget about that once in awhile. Please email me directly if you continue to have this problem. Thank you, Webmaster John Rather jrather@chemsoft.com

Okay, some unique items for an M3: ///M in the instrument cluster ///M on the rear control arms larger front brake rotors and calipers vented rear discs M3 muffler wider side moldings front swaybar links attached to front struts /// on front and rear seats Some of these can only be seen if the car is stopped, but the front brakes are an obvious one to notice, especially if the car has 17" wheels. -rb _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com

It is much easier to just block the a**holes than to lose out on the rest of us good folks here. Very strange to me. Think there is more to the story than what unfolded in front of us. Big personalities could be part of it too. Mike

#6. Euro springs and upgrades - from bmw

Date: Fri, 18 May 2001 10:07:53 -0700 (PDT) From: bmw <m3lawdawg@yahoo.com> Subject: Euro springs and upgrades Iam looking at upgrading the suspension and would like to keep the car streetable. My first thought is to use Euro springs with Koni shocks and Eibach sway bars. The car will see a couple of track days per year only. If any one is running the euro springs with any combination I would like to hear from you, also where did you get the springs from, can the local dealer get them. E mail direct since this has probably been covered on the list before. Tony __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! #7. Fuel starvation at Willow Springs (big track) turn 2 on half tank - from Marc.S.Edwards@questdiagnostics.com
Top
Date: Fri, 18 May 2001 09:58:39 -0700 From: Marc.S.Edwards@questdiagnostics.com Subject: Fuel starvation at Willow Springs (big track) turn 2 on half tank All; I just wanted to relate an experience I had at Willow Springs International Raceway (the big long track) this past Monday with what I believe was a fuel starvation problem. Those that have driven there or know the configuration might understand this as well or can related. Perhaps someone else has experienced this as well. My tank had an indicated greater-than-half fuel level. Turn 2 is a very long fast 200 degree sweeper to the right that simultaneously goes significantly uphill as well. This is done at somewhere between 80-90 in my M3 LTW. I take the line that is right against the inside. Side loading is significant. I'm in 4th gear going up this sweeper. As I get to the end of this right turn sweeper and to the straight between turns 2 and 3 I would get hesitation with significant loss of power that was intermittent, especially if I still have my accelerator to the floor. If I back off on the accelerator a lot then the starvation goes away. By the end of the straight between 2 and 3 the hesitation has gone away. Nowhere else on the track did this occur during an entire 30 minute session when I had the fuel starvation problem at turn 2. This did not happen during the turn 8-9 sweeper to the right that is on flat ground and taken at somewhere between 100-120 mph. And, this is not the rev limiter as I was well below 7000 rpm. I filled my tank and the problem went away. It wasn't the gas since the problem did not happen with a full tank of the same gas as when the tank was an indicated half empty. I just had never felt fuel starvation at the track before in either my regular M3 or my M3 LTW at any of the 7 different tracks I have driven, not even with a quarter tank. What was also interesting was that the check engine light would illuminate with the starvation and hesitation problem as it was happening. As soon as the starvation problem was resolved at the end of the stratight between turns 2 and 3 the check engine light turned off. With that relationship I attribute the check engine light to the fuel starvation or something happening in the engine as a result of the starvation that then resolved with a full gas supply. So, I guess I just need to keep some extra fuel around for WSIR for schools so this doesn't happen again. Marc 95 M3 LTW

Wen, $500 leather credit was not for leatherette (vinyl), but for a cheaper version of the leather (Montana - whatever that means) when the stocks of high-end (Buffalo - whatever that means) leather were running short. I bet if you cared enough to call BMW NA someone will be able to explain the difference. In the US, one could not buy an E36 M3 without leather in no matter what. I think there were one or two people who managed to convince their dealers into special ordering early '95 M3 with cloth seats, but that was a rare exception to the rule. alex f

I know coilovers are adjustable, but if you set them to the > highest setting (ride height), would the car sit lower or higher than the > H&R/Konis? hahah... ok, this is kinda funny actually. When I first put the setup on my car, I thought, "well, even at the highest position, it's GOT to be lower than stock... so I'll put it there." Whoops. It RAISED the car by about an inch! :) H&R quotes a 2" range, I've got the car dropped about 2" in the front and 1.5 in the rear... yah, I like my car slammed. ;) http://www.mindspring.com/~kitwetzler/bimmer.html that's a pic of the ride height. -kit

I told Jim the best way to get even with the assholes was to stick around and make them miserable :) Most of this had to do with a dispute on the UUC digest, not here. Maybe he just needs a vacation from all this for awhile. Suzy
