If your are somehow concerned about air flow having an affect on the leather, the covers will not restrict the airflow nearly as much as the foam padding directly under the leather. I'm no leather expert so if there is some other concern here please educate me. Also Suprem is not a highly technical firm - don't expect too much from them along these lines. They basically hand make patterns and sew together fabric. FWIW, the covers are 100% cotton appearing to be a light form of denim. My previous experience with them was on a Black/Black 325iS (in the South). I had the covers on for the entire 10 years I owned the car. When I sold it, the buyer was amazed. The leather seats looked as good as the day I drove it off of the lot. The only other treatment they recieved was regular use of Lexol. Tom Tice '98 M3/4 - bought used and leather had more visible wear in 2 years than my 325iS in 10 (with covers). '99 540/6

Why? Cross-drilling just reduces friction area, and you'll eventually get cracking around the holes if you use them hard. Neil 96 M3

I autocross against NSXs about once a month with my "slightly" modified 95 and I almost always better their times. The NSXs are worse than 911s in terms of swapping ends. Still look cool though. #4. What's a Perf Friction "3944" pad? - from Dan Miley

Date: Fri, 08 Jun 2001 00:09:52 -0400 From: Dan Miley <dmiley@rcn.com> Subject: What's a Perf Friction "3944" pad? I'm getting my M3/4 ready for a couple of driving schools and am wondering if I can use the set of new Performance Friction front pads that the PO included with the car. The part numbers don't seem to match what PFC sells today. The box label says "3944" and the pads are stamped with "MAMA PFC 33FF." The box label date is 4/99. Any idea what these are? I saw a reference in an Audi site for an FMSI 394 or 3944 pad for an ATE caliper. The Hawk site shows the front pad for my M3 as D394CA. IS the "394" part an industry standard number? Should I use these pads for driving schools or just buy a set of PFC 90 or 97 pads? Thanks. --Dan

When I got mine, they actually looked brownish ( the fabric sample Nick brought me was much better matched ). Actually with a few washings, the covers are more grey now, but I still think the first sample was better. I'll request my next set in a lighter shade of grey, but it'll be a long time before they wear out. Thanks Nick for all the leg work. Date: Fri, 8 Jun 2001 09:34:13 -0400 From: "Dorffer, Rich" <RDORFFER@CleIndians.com> Subject: Cross drilled Rotors Why would anyone buy cross-drilled Brembos for $200 a set (inherently weaker due to being drilled unlike cast rotors with holes, less surface contact for the brake pads, potentially a problem with certain pads as they wear faster on rotors with holes, only provide a benefit to pads that inherently gas, etc.) when they can buy the OE Euro floating rotors for $216 from Nick Alexander or Pacific BMW? #10. Removing Track Rubber From Paint - from shane.a.kleinpeter@accenture.com

Date: Fri, 8 Jun 2001 09:40:19 -0400 From: shane.a.kleinpeter@accenture.com Subject: Removing Track Rubber From Paint A question for track junkies: How do you remove the track rubber marks from your paint after a long weekend at the track? I've got a black car, so it doesn't really show up, but I'm going to wax the car this weekend and want to get the accumulated rubber off first. Is there a specific product you like to use, or just elbow grease? My car has marks all over it and it's starting to look really bad. I'd appreciate any suggestions.
