They're located in San Francisco, and their number is 1-888-600-4844. Give 'em a call. They can use both OEM or aftermarket glass. #3. Wing Identification Help - from Hank Cohn
Top
Date: Sun, 10 Jun 2001 11:50:38 -0400 From: "Hank Cohn" <hcohc@mindspring.com> Subject: Wing Identification Help Good morning all: While at a DE at Road Atlanta a couple of months back, I saw a non-factory rear wing with a center section that could be extended. The wing was similar in design to the lightweight wing but without the base or wing extensions. For normal street use the center section would slide back under the wing where it was secured by screws. I can not remember the manufacturer of this wing, but it was a tuner like Hartge or Hamann. = My web searches have turned up nothing. Thanks in advance for your time Hank 1999 M3/2 Cosmos

#7. Jim's big adventure into power buffing - from Paul Elliott

Date: Sun, 10 Jun 2001 16:12:00 -0400 From: "Paul Elliott" <pelliott@rcn.com> Subject: Jim's big adventure into power buffing >>Is anyone even looking at this stuff? Give Jim a little feedback and let him know what else you are interested in <jsp98m3@apexcone.com><< Nice job, Jim....I'm surprised you were able to get out all the 'dullness', ie, fine weight scratches, put on from the fine cut cleaner with an orbital. I've scared myself more than once with that Meguiars stuff, because, until I got used to using it, I was always afraid that the scratches I laid down would be harder to remove than the scratch I initially started with...But I use a 1200 - 1800 rpm rotary from Harbor Freight, with the Meguiars velcro backing pad. I have 3 grades of foam pads I use with the velcro: the Burgundy is for harsher cutting and replaces wool, the Yellow is for light polishing or waxing, and teh Beige is for 'finishing'. Once, I used the Burgundy and 3Ms finesse it Machine polish for a clearcoat scratch on the hood, and found I had a lot of work to do to remove the scratches laid down by the Burgundy bonnet. Another time I tried the Yellow milder bonnet but with the harsher Fine Cut Cleaner...Same thing. So, for most jobs, I prefer the Yellow bonnet, and the 3M Finesse It Machine Polish. Of course, for tougher jobs, I've got to go for the Fine Cut. But, it still scares me...It leaves scratches not unlike a 1500 or greater grit paper might. You hit the nail on the head, though, when you said always try a milder solution first...I'd rather do a milder one twice, than a harsher one once, but then have to spend more time getting rid of the damage it caused. BTW, those Porter Cables must be unlike any other orbital I've used, because Ive found most of them to be useless for anything but wax application and removal, and removal of the mildest of swirls damage. regards, --------------------------------------------------------- Paul Elliott '99 White M3; < 30K miles; Dinan stage II sc kit; Rotex pads; Steiger SS and Clutch Stop; Sound by Polk, Excelon, JLAudio

I used a combination of Goo Gone and Bug and Tar remover that I found in the garage and it did an admirable job. Waxed with Mother's Carnauba afterwards and the car looks worlds better than it did when I started. Shane Kleinpeter '96 M3
