Hopefully I'll still be part of the GP. I have the Modena interior on my car (97 Boston coupe). When I ordered the seat covers, they didn't have a color that matched it on the nose, but they did have one that was pretty close, a little lighter, not as intensely pumpkin colored. I think it was something like light goldenrod, something of that nature. They had 2 tan colors, a lighter and a darker. Mine seat covers are in the lighter. The color is probably a better match for a sand / tan interior than my modena interior, but close enough for me. Form follows function, ya know! Andrej '97 M3

#4. Seat Covers - from Mark Siismets

Date: Tue, 12 Jun 2001 11:52:14 -0700 (PDT) From: Mark Siismets <msiismets@yahoo.com> Subject: Seat Covers It's 1:45 PM in Houston, and I just ordered a pair of seat covers from Seat Savers (800.600.7083). I spoke with Juan and he confirmed to me that we are over the limit, so all who order will get the discounted price of $109 (as opposed to $129). He also mentioned that he'll honor the group price for all orders received up until the close of business tomorrow (Wednesday). Delivery will take about 3-4 weeks. They have a website (www.coverdepot.com), but unfortunately it's not working very well. Juan knows this, but didn't indicate when it will be operational. #5. Door panel cover separation - from Mark Siismets
Top
Date: Tue, 12 Jun 2001 12:03:31 -0700 (PDT) From: Mark Siismets <msiismets@yahoo.com> Subject: Door panel cover separation The covering on my driver's side door panel has begun to separate from the panel. I currently have a rather big "bubble" where I normally rest my left elbow. I was thinking of making a small slit in the covering and then injecting some epoxy glue (or other adhesive) and then pushing the cover back into place onto the panel sub-structure. Has anyone been successful at repairing such a separation on the door panels? If so, I'd be grateful to read how the repairs were made. Thanks, Mark '95 M3 __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Get personalized email addresses from Yahoo! Mail - only $35 a year! http://personal.mail.yahoo.com/

#8. OBC Code - from Luis Veras

Date: Tue, 12 Jun 2001 14:49:06 -0400 From: "Luis Veras" <veras@tricom.net> Subject: OBC Code Lately my younger brother has gotten the confidence to just come to my house, get the car keys (my M3!) and do short errands. I dislike that. I plan on start using the OBC code thingy, which I have only used in the past 2 or 3 times, when having the car parked in unusual places. Apparently, I need to enter the code every time I get out of the car in order to work. Isn't there a way to just set the code and have it there always, so I don't have to re-enter it everytime I turn the car off? Please advise. Thanks. BTW, if I set the code, and someone tries to steal the car without the car keys (ie. an experienced thief), can he hot-wire the car or not? Luis

Err, how about just not leaving the M3 keys around the house (after telling him to stop)? Call me low-tech caveman or something... Andrej '97 M3

BMW OBC's have always been this way. That's one reason I don't find them particularly helpful. The other one is that... > BTW, if I set the code, and someone tries to steal the car > without the car keys (ie. an experienced thief), can he hot- > wire the car or not? OBC code will nominally keep the DME from firing the injectors, but if OBC 'code' mode is activated. If one were to reset it by say, cutting the power to the OBC, the 'code' feature will also reset into 'enter me' mode. But OBC may well be the perfect tool for keeping unauthorized family members from driving your car. alex f
