Anyone know of an early E36 (1992-1993) 325 track car (for SCCA > ITS or BMWCCA use) for sale so I can stop flogging my poor M3?? I believe Michael Lord's is still for sale: http://www.unofficialbmw.com/ML.html Cheers, Jim Bassett - dedicated track car NOT in this year's budget :-( 1998 M3/4 - dual-purpose car, for now

Dude, either they really softened the compound on your particular set of Kumhos or your Michelins were rock hard as their is no way this is true on a typical tire comparison. Kumho is a good tire for the money but it is no Michelin in any aspect but wet traction (and I personally feel the MXX3 is underrated in the wet but everyone has to find one shortcoming of this tire). BTW, that was me. However, I also implied (should have stated it outright) that the Michelins I was comparing to had 18K miles on them and were over 4 years old. Since I have never driven brand new Michelin MXX3's the comparison cannot be empirical, but it was a subjective observation. Anyway, now that that is about as clear as mud...can we go on to something else? Mel 97 M3/4 with only it's second set of tires.

For a track tire to bring out the > finely tuned suspension on our cars then they suck. 100% agree with Seth on the above......if I drove my car like I was at a Autocross/track event on the street, I would be dead now! In fact I rarely drive my car more then 8 tenths on the street.....There is to much Shxxxt to worry about! If your running R compounds, and a aggressive alignment and your car is a daily driver why run an expensive street tire? It makes ZERO sense to me? My daily commute is 75 miles round trip and it's all highway....For me Inexpensive is a no brainer............ Damn I get 60 one minute runs out of a set of Hoosier A compounds! $900 mounted and balanced! Do the math ......Why would I run a $250 Pilot, or BFG KD on the street with 3 Degrees of negative Camber? There are other street tires that are inexpensive, pick your brand...I liked the RE71's but they're almost out of stock, and that worries me....So I'm on the Kumho's.... And as I posted earlier....they work fine for me..... > -------------------- 5 -------------------- > Date: Tue, 3 Jul 2001 10:30:57 -0700 (PDT) > From: Ed Tang <etangf1@yahoo.com> > Subject: RE: [E36M3] Cheap tires > > Let me clarify. I have diverted a > ton o funds on my maiden season karting. Ed, good point.....If your not ready for R's, or are to lazy to change them at events then by all means go out and buy a top rated Ultra Performance street tire.....Drop the $'s and enjoy them..... IMHO the BFG KD's are the ultimate street tire....the dang things actually heat cycle when they are at maximum temperatures....Just don't ask them to last long :-) Regards, Steve PS who's coming to OFest TY????

Does it just outright refuse to play CD-Rs? On the other hand, it looks like the Nakamichi stuff is much better than any of the other brands out there. How does the head unit match with your interior (assuming you have the same basic colors and such as my '97 sedan w/ black interior)? Seth

A far cry from your assertion! I had my speed right, but my letter rating wrong. Further evidence pointed out that many of the recalled sizes were "P" rated, which is good for about 90-95. I don't know about you folks, but I have been passed on I-80 here in NorCal by minivans and SUVs doing over 100. can't be good for the life of the tire... - peterg (thinks removing the power steering from SUVs would get these cars out of the hands of soccer moms...)
