If you take your front wheel off and look at how the swaybar link geometry works, I think you'll conclude that major differences in effective lever arm length wouldn't be a good idea. To have a very short arm - i.e. effectively stiff bar without large diameter - the swaybar links would have to operate at a weird angle, and furthermore that angle would change radically with suspension travel. You'd need to beef up the links themselves due to their oblique operating angle. I have never done this, but it might be interesting to measure the lever arm length range on stock, RD and Dinan front bars. I can handle the first two - Joe, you want to do the Dinan? Neil 96 M3

Date: Thu, 12 Jul 2001 20:13:00 From: "Ron Buchalski" <rbuchals@hotmail.com> Subject: Re: Radio wiring harness Jim, I have an E34 525iT and a '95 E36 M3, and they both had nearly identical factory radios (the E34 had a weatherband, whereas the M3 has a mute button instead). I was going to install an Alpine in-dash CD player into my M3, so I asked the local shop (where I originally purchased the Alpine) for a wire harness adapter. He provided me with a standard BMW wire adapter (for about $20), which splices onto the aftermarket radio's wire harness, and provides a connector that perfectly matches the BMW wire harness connector for the factory radio. Swapping the stock radio with the aftermarket radio becomes a plug-and-play operation. I actually ended up installing the Alpine in my E34, and used the wire harness adapter, and it worked perfectly in that car, too. I don't know if the '97 has a different wire harness connector, but my guess is that it's the same. You'll also need an antenna wire adapter, since most aftermarket radios in the US have a different antenna wire connector than the BMW has. -rb >Date: Thu, 12 Jul 2001 07:54:13 -0400 >From: "Jim Musial" <jim_musial@usa.net> >Subject: Radio wiring harness > >Anyone know where I can get a radio head unit wiring harness for a '97 E36 >M3 with HK sound system. I run 34f/33r which seems a good balance between ride comfort and the ability to take a decent corner on the street. I bump it up to 37f/35r for autocrosses; seems to work well (a bit of white shoepolish near the arrows on the sidewall of the tire show I could probably even drop it a few pounds, but going lower doesn't feel good to me).
