#1. VERY OT: advice for similar lists / clubs - from Peter Guagenti
Top
Date: Wed, 25 Jul 2001 19:19:38 -0700 From: Peter Guagenti <peter@guagenti.com> Subject: VERY OT: advice for similar lists / clubs Last night the M was joined in the garage by a not-so-well engineered car that's almost as fun to drive (in a different way) -- a 1962 MGA MkII roadster. It is in non-running condition and (after a whole lot of time and work) will become my street car, letting the M3 be a weekend "play" car. My question is, does anyone know any vintage / british / etc. lists that might have a similar group of knowledgeable folks? I know there are a couple of '02 guys out there who probably know of one or two... Please reply privately. Any help is appreciated. Thanks for the OT bandwidth. -peterg

#3. '97 M3 Dead Interior Fan - from Justin Gerry
Top
Date: Wed, 25 Jul 2001 22:57:40 -0400 From: "Justin Gerry" <jgerry@butchers.com> Subject: '97 M3 Dead Interior Fan Subject header describes it all. Came home from work, grabbed a few things to go out again, started the car and my interior fan is dead. I checked fuses and everything looked ok. Tried changing air flow with various combinations (auto on, auto off, floor, window, etc...), turned the ventilation control on and off. Ventilation control unit thinks the fan works, but nothing happens. Had to put all windows down and use my right foot to keep things somewhat cool (90F+ here in Mass.). At least it is supposed to be cooler tomorrow. Anyway, if it was an E30 I would be suspect of the blower motor resistor pack. I know the E36's have them as well. If anyone has any suggestions it would be appreciated. Many thanks, Justin -- '76 02 (Whimsical) '97 M3 (Orion) BMWCCA# 77056 check out the updated page at: http://users.vei.net/jgerry

Date: Wed, 25 Jul 2001 23:02:36 EDT From: AVUSM3@aol.com Subject: Fikse FM-10s Roman - A good friend of mine has a 5 year of set of FM-10s. He was one of the early purchasers. They are beautiful wheels and are quite strong - 5 years in New England and no bent ones yet! He says they are a real PITA to clean though. When they are clean they look GREAT. Good luck, John '95 Avus Blue M3 w/real light and strong BBS wheels! > > I was interested in getting a set of Fikse FM-10 rims. Has anyone > here had any experience with them? It is based on the same physics engine as Grand Prix Legends, but also has force feedback. With a force feedback steering wheel, you can drift the car just like in real life, and the steering feel is incredible. I have 2 PC's on a 100Mb home network, and side by side racing is great fun. I wish Grand Prix Legends had the force feedback, and that the Viper was the PTG M3 from Sports Car GT. Date: Thu, 26 Jul 2001 11:44:33 -0400 From: Andrej Dolenc <adolenc@erols.com> Subject: Re: [E36M3] Fikse Wheels Roman, To echo everybody's comments, the Fikse FM/10's are very strong rims. They've withstood driving in the Washington DC area - sometimes the streets look like a warzone! They are not, however, indestructible. One really nice thing about the Fikse's is that they're a 3 piece modular rim. You bend a rim, you can replace only the rim half that's bent, and end up with a rim that's basically as strong as a new one. Been there, done that. Looks like an early 2002 model. If anyone is in a similar spot, I'd be interested in hearing what options you spec'd. Please reply offline. Every now and then the compressor would work and I could hear the airflow, but I was unable to feel any air. Shutting off the climate control and restarting the car always worked. It seemed as if all of the interior vents were closed. Date: Thu, 26 Jul 2001 09:15:02 -0400 From: "Ben Liaw - Rogue Engineering" <ben@rogueengineering.com> Subject: REMINDER! -- Rogue Engineering Virtual Car Show Hey Folks! Just a reminder, you have 5 more days to enter your car into the Virtual Car Show (Deadline July 31) before we start the judging! As the guy from the Lotto commercial says, "You got to be in it to win it!" We've gotten a few entries already and they look pretty good! However, I KNOW there are some pretty tricked out BMWs out there and it only takes a few minutes to enter to win one of a few prizes! What have you got to lose? It doesn't cost ANYTHING to enter! Who knows? You may actually win something! See the original announcement, as well as directions for entering in the original email I've pasted below. Good luck to all who enter! Thanks to Suzy for allowing this happen!
