I pulled the fuse out and put it back in (reseated it). My interior fan is working fine again. Just to be sure, I pulled the fuse out again and tested, sure enough the interior fan was dead. Weird... I probably should not leave the M3 parked next to the 2002 (bad habits). Thanks for the reply, Justin -- '76 02 (Whimsical) '97 M3 (Orion) BMW CCA#77056 check out http://users.vei.net/jgerry

It was a dead blower motor and since I was still under warranty, it was covered. Like you, I checked all the possible fuses and relays and everything seemed fine. I have no idea how much it cost to repair, but I'm sure it wouldn't be cheap out of warranty. Funny comment from the service advisor - I asked him what happened, was it simply a dead motor or did something else cause it to go on me. He said it was probably rattled to death from my overly stiff suspension :) Vern Anderson 98 M3/2 with 500 lbs springs that apparently cause other things on my car to break..... -------------------- 3 -------------------- Date: Wed, 25 Jul 2001 22:57:40 -0400 From: "Justin Gerry" <jgerry@butchers.com> Subject: '97 M3 Dead Interior Fan Subject header describes it all. Came home from work, grabbed a few things to go out again, started the car and my interior fan is dead. I checked fuses and everything looked ok. Tried changing air flow with various combinations (auto on, auto off, floor, window, etc...), turned the ventilation control on and off. Ventilation control unit thinks the fan works, but nothing happens. Had to put all windows down and use my right foot to keep things somewhat cool (90F+ here in Mass.). At least it is supposed to be cooler tomorrow. Anyway, if it was an E30 I would be suspect of the blower motor resistor pack. I know the E36's have them as well. If anyone has any suggestions it would be appreciated. Many thanks, Justin -- '76 02 (Whimsical) '97 M3 (Orion) BMWCCA# 77056 check out the updated page at: http://users.vei.net/jgerry

I know that when it rains and there is water on the rear window, after driving for a while at 50mph the rear window cleans itself off. Does anyone know if this still happens with this top window wing? Does anyone have a good picture also, to make sure that I am thinking of the same part. Thanks, Chris T 97 M3

I put the caps on with the blue loctite, and then went to have some new tires mounted and three guys at the shop couldn't get the caps off. I ended-up spending about 3 hours with a propane torch and a LOT of elbow grease (giant screwdriver and hammer) to get the things off. I'll never put them back on. I just go capless at track events now. It may sound funny to people who haven't had this problem, but it's not funny when you have $1200 in essentially worthless wheels sitting in your garage. Use heat and as much force as you can muster Margaret. They'll come off eventually. Date: Thu, 26 Jul 2001 12:03:32 -0500 From: "Greg Cernosek" <gcernosek@inetx.com> Subject: RE: [E36M3] Center caps stuck on Well, this happened to a buddy of mine (I'll let him reveal his identity if he likes). Apparently he misunderstood the abilities of locktite and instead of putting one drop on one section of the threads, he circled the entire cap with it. Needless to say, he showed up at my house with tears in his eyes (joking) as he had an event coming up that weekend and needed new tires. So, I tried my IR impact gun with a flat chisel bit in the little slot. Nothing! The wheel laughed at us. I don't take inanimate objects laughing at me very well, so... I took out the die grinder and put a cutting wheel on it. I then cut the slot in the center cap all the way through the centercap. Then, I put a 1/2 inch ratchet with a flat chisel tip into the slot and hammered it in. Then, I took my jack handle and slid it over the end of the ratchet (Craftsman, so I wasn't worried about scaring the handle) and had my buddy hold the wheel while I turned the 5ft long handle. Out it came. He made a quick call to IFG and they sent him a new set of centercaps. Free of charge if I remember correctly. Date: Thu, 26 Jul 2001 17:58:48 From: "Ron Buchalski" <rbuchals@hotmail.com> Subject: Re: OBC Program You entered the mode to program your OBC for which functions to display. By default, it will display all of them, and pressing the turn signal switch will cycle through them. Since I only care about Temp and Range during regular driving, I normally program those to display. When I travel, I re-program it to also display distance so I can find out how far the destination is, and when I'll arrive. The other functions are accessed so infrequently that I push the OBC button when I want to see them. To set the OBC back to default (ALL) mode, press and hold the turn signal switch until PROG1 is displayed, and then press Set on the OBC. -rb >Date: Tue, 24 Jul 2001 12:11:42 -0500 >From: "David Morad" <Dogdave@msn.com> >Subject: OBC Program > >My OBC last night started to display PROGRAM 1 last night.
