Make sure you get some good impregnating (mmmm...impregnate) oil and coat it (or use WD40) and let if sit for quite awhile. This was the most time intensive process of getting my rotors off as well. Use some good high temp brake grease on the insides when you put the new ones on. I replaced the brake pads last week and while I had one of the front calipers off, I tried to remove the rotor. I removed the counter-sunk hex bolt that holds the rotor to the hub, but could not get the rotor to budge. I didn't coerce the rotor any further as I wanted to ensure that I wasn't missing anything. Do I need to use a mallet or something? Is there something I'm missing? Please help. Also, I'd like to eventually replace the original headlight units with a set of the european ellipsoids and eventually install HIDs. Does anyone have a list of BMW part numbers for the conversion, and potential suppliers for the HID kit. I'm compiling info, so testemonials of HID product installations and success/failure stories would be appreciated. I've get a set of warped Euro's in my basement as proof - they lasted one driving school. The best thing to do is think of rotors as consumables and get the cheapest Brembo rotors that fit on the M3 you can find. Steve D'G @ Ultimate Garage carries them for about $60-$70 each and even cheaper is Import Connection (http://www.import-connection.com/locations.html) in Campbell CA that quoted me $45 each. Assuming that you also removed the caliper *bracket*, then yeah, a few whacks with a rubber mallet should remove the stubborn rotor. To prevent this in the future, apply a *thin* film of anti-sieze compound around the hub before installing the new rotor. Hope that helps, Jim Bassett 1998 M3/4

I found the best price for the European ellipsoid headlight upgrade kit at: http://www.parts4bmw.com/ He hasn't updated the webpage yet, but rest assured that he does sell them. I think they were $165 per side or something like that, I can't remember. (If you call, please post the current price!) Also, he has perfect foglight replacements for $42 each! (When my friends rag me about the high price of BMW parts, a new PAIR of foglights for less than $90 is the perfect comeback.) They were a snap to install. I wish he carried more stuff... - Chris

I warped a set of stock rotors, switched to floating (euro) rotors and never have warped a set in 3 years since. FYI. If someone tells you that they warp just as easy, they need to improve their own braking technique. They are money well spent and should cost you around $115 tops. Mike
