The best tool for this job is what is commonly referred to as a "cone wrench" normally used for working on bicycle wheel bearings. A 14mm is a common size and you can get one of these at any bike shop. Grinding down a normal open end wrench would also work but is a PITA. Another tip is that you should put a bit of Blue Loctite on the sway bar link treads/nuts or they will continue to work loose and make lots of noise - ask me how I know. Hi all, Am wanting to replace the steering wheel on my '96 M3 with the 3-spoke one from the mid '98 and up cars. Have ordered the wheel but it came without air bag and center. Anyone know what additional parts I need to order. . . the dealer didn't? Mike, There is a place to put an open end wrench on the other side, but it needs to be on the thin side. I think it is 15mm. You will need to hold it before you can remove the nut on the other side. The boot may be covering up the wrench flats, but the wrench should slide it away. #8. 110k Inspection II coming up - any suggestions? - from Chris Papademetrious

Date: Mon, 06 Aug 2001 00:10:02 -0400 From: Chris Papademetrious <chrispitude@yahoo.com> Subject: 110k Inspection II coming up - any suggestions? Everyone, I have a 95 M3 whose Inspection II should be arriving right around 110,000 miles. It'll be going to a BMW shop (Bavarian Specialties in King of Prussia, PA) to have the work done. I will also be attempting some of it (plugs, O2 sensor, microfilter) for the first time by myself. My question to you is, what other items should I ask the shop to replace/upgrade as well? Right now the only things that come to mind are stainless braided brake hoses, and perhaps polyurethane upgrades for any bushings that are worn. Does anyone have any suggestions on what parts I should be ordering (and where I should be ordering them from) to have installed, particularly for the above two items? Those trailing arm bushings look pretty nice! In other news, I think my dual-mass flywheel is going, but I'm not sure. There's certainly not any loud clunks or rattles like others have reported. But, I do hear somewhat of a clunk when the engine is shut off, and it seems much harder to drive the car without jerking the shifts than it did before. I fear it's on the way out. :( Are these the tell-tale signs of a failure to come? Thanks in advance, everyone! - Chris

Do you guys know if the Movit-Porsche 993 Turbo brake kit fits the stock e36 M3 contour II 17" wheels without spacers? If not, what would it take to make that work and is it recommended with those wheels? Thanks in advance, Hank Cohn 99 M3/2 99 GT3-Cup
