I have a 95 M3 with Dinan sway bars and reinforced sway bar tabs in the rear. I have zero problems. BTW, did I say I love this suspension. #3. Buying used Double Spoke wheels - from Bora Akyol
Top
Date: Tue, 07 Aug 2001 21:08:41 -0700 From: Bora Akyol <akyol@akyol.org> Subject: Buying used Double Spoke wheels I am buying a set of double spokes off of a 98M3 (staggered) with tires allegedly with 100% tread on the front and 65% tread at the back. I haven't seen these wheels yet, but the seller is asking for 800 including the tires. I have seen pictures of the wheels and they have some minor scuffs on them. I have been told that they are not bent and they balance fine. So, is 800 a good price for these, or should I just order a set of Borbet's from Tirerack with Kumho's on them for 1200 or so. Any suggestion, comments appreciated. Bora --

#7. [E36M3] Trim Panel P/N - from RogRacer@aol.com
Top
Date: Wed, 08 Aug 2001 08:58:37 EDT From: RogRacer@aol.com Subject: [E36M3] Trim Panel P/N I know everyone hates these P/N questions, but here goes...does anyone have the P/N for the driver's side rear passenger trim panel (coupe w/standard grey interior)? The on-line parts catalog (awesome, BTW) is a bit unclear in this regard (could be one of several). My trusty 3M super trim adhesive has let go, and I'm tired of trying to fix this thing, so I'm gonna replace it. Thanks for helping. #8. RE: E36 M3 Underpanel Reinforcement - from Dorffer, Rich

Date: Wed, 8 Aug 2001 09:53:26 -0400 From: "Dorffer, Rich" <RDORFFER@CleIndians.com> Subject: RE: E36 M3 Underpanel Reinforcement Lee, I will leave the pictures there for at least one year (unless I make some revisions or upgrade what I have done and, in that case, I would probably replace the current ones). I eventually would like to put together a little website but Photopoint will have to do for now. The aluminum was approximately 28 gauge (maybe 30 gauge). It was some scrap I had from some aluminum soffit material I had laying around. It is fairly easy to bend and I was able to do so with my hands using the edge of a table. I had purchased some 26 gauge galvanized steel (Home Depot) but I felt the aluminum was more than adequate especially since I wrapped the attachment point. You could use heavier material but I think it is overkill and another area is more than likely to break at that point. I ended up using a washer under each screw head but did this after I took the picture. I am not sure a washer between the underpanel and the mounting point really does anything for you other than act as a spacer. The washer under the screw head should help prevent the underpanel from pulling through. Best regards, Rich PS - So when do we start the virtual underpanel show?? ;-) -----Original Message----- From: Lee Hassig [mailto:lhassig@apexmail.com] Sent: Tuesday, August 07, 2001 5:57 PM To: E36M3; RDORFFER@CleIndians.com Subject: RE: E36 M3 Underpanel Reinforcement Rich, Thanks for the great pictures. I've bookmarked the portfolio for future reference. Question is, will they remain at their present Web location indefinitely, or should I download all the pix to be sure I have them later? A couple of questions about your procedure: How thick is the aluminum, and how exactly did you bend it? Also, what do you think of using a couple of large washers at each attchment point as a preventative? That is, sandwich the plastic of the underpanel between two washers at the attachment points. Thanks again for the great pictures.

Date: Wed, 8 Aug 2001 07:15:23 -0700 (PDT) From: Matt Henson <hensonator@yahoo.com> Subject: Re: [E36M3] Buying used Double Spoke wheels $800 is about right for a set of the double spoke rims in excelllent condition. These rims aren't excellent but they have tires. You didn't mention which kind of tire but I assume that they go for at least $150 each new once they are mounted and balanced. So that's $600 new, maybe worth $300 now. So if you're going to keep these tires then it's like paying $500 for the rims. Which is probably a good price for a set in good condition. So, IMO, if the tires are decent then it's a good deal. If they are crap and you'll have to replace them soon then it's not. If you really want competion tires and these are street tires then will you have to replace them anyway? -Matt --- Bora Akyol <akyol@akyol.org> wrote: > Date: Tue, 07 Aug 2001 21:08:41 -0700 > From: Bora Akyol <akyol@akyol.org> > Subject: Buying used Double Spoke wheels > > I am buying a set of double spokes off of a 98M3 > (staggered) with tires > allegedly with 100% tread on the front and 65% tread > at the back. > > I haven't seen these wheels yet, but the seller is > asking for 800 > including the tires. > > I have seen pictures of the wheels and they have > some minor scuffs on them. > I have been told that they are not bent and they > balance fine. > > So, is 800 a good price for these, or should I just > order a set > of Borbet's from Tirerack with Kumho's on them for > 1200 or so. > > Any suggestion, comments appreciated. > > Bora __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? #10. BMW Roadside Assistance - from Ron Buchalski
Top
Date: Wed, 08 Aug 2001 14:50:03 From: "Ron Buchalski" <rbuchals@hotmail.com> Subject: BMW Roadside Assistance Yesterday I received my 'Friends of BMW' book from BMWCCA. On the last page (or back cover) there is a mention of BMW Roadside Assistance, and how it covers cars while they are under warranty. It also says that, for $59.99 per year, cars no longer under warranty can also be covered. This is news to me. Has anyone actually purchased this coverage? Is it worth it? I never used Roadside Assistance when my car was under warranty, so I have no experience with it. -rb _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp
