The Deltaflow one still drones on the highway, but I'm sure it's not as loud as the regular one. I've heard Bob's and my car (my co-driver was driving it) on back-to-back ProSolo runs, and the Deltaflow one is definitely quieter in WOT situations, although still way louder than stock. I've grown to love the sound, even the highway droning. Mine came with two cockpit-adjustable tools, one is the right pdeal and the other is the radio-volume knob <g> Seriously though, the Deltaflow still drones, so if you're looking for a totally quiet solution, look elsewhere. Bob warned me that the exhaust is unrefined in both looks and sound and he was right. But like I said, I've come to love the raw sound and industrial look. The cheap price and low weight don't hurt either. I have a 1998 cat-back that I'll sell if your interested. I'm located in Pittsburgh, if you're in this part of the country let me know, if not I'm sure there's tons of those thing around locally wherever you're at. The light throttle droning is getting very annoying, so I'm looking for a solution. Anyone with any suggestions? I'm thinking either adding a resonator, changing the muffler for a deltaflow or magnaflow, or just getting a borla catback or a 96+ OEM catback. Anyone with a 96+ OEM catback muffler they'd like to get rid of? I was told that it has significantly larger diameter piping than my 95 OEM catback. Thanks, Bob

Date: Mon, 01 Oct 2001 21:23:41 From: "Ron Buchalski" <rbuchals@hotmail.com> Subject: Re: H&R Coilover write-up Excellent document! Nice job, Scott! On a related note, I spoke with a local guy who recently installed the Bilstein Coilover system on his E36 325i. He installed the PSS9 adjustable system. I mentioned to him that Bilstein doesn't make a front coilover kit that accommodates the M3's swaybar link attachments on the strut tower, and he said that they were going to start selling an M3 system within two months. So..... I called Bilstein today to ask about this, and the person I spoke to said 'No, they weren't going to make a unique kit' and 'The swaybar links can be attached to the control arms, just as they are on the non-M3 models. He said that they have a '95 M3 with the PSS9 kit installed, and it works very well. I found it interesting that Bilstein makes the strut for the H&R coilover system, which has the swaybar attachment on the strut housing (as shown in Scott's document), but Bilstein doesn't sell it themselves. Anyhow, does anyone have any comments on why the strut-attached swaybar link is better than the control arm-attached swaybar link? There will be those with the purchasing power who will buy a limited homologated racer. Witness the attraction of the Porsche GT1 and the Mercedes-Benz CLK-GTR (at least when they don't go airborne...). They were built purely for the reason of satisfying the ACO's homologation rules and each found a home though mostly in Europe, the Middle East or Asia. The V8 powered E46 M3 GTR, given its recent success in its first year of competition in the ALMS and the ELMS, will probably attract the buyers needed. Make no mistake about it though, BMW will probably LOSE moneay on each and every one but hey, it's one heck of an image car. #10. FS: 4 Blizzak MZ-01 Winter Tires - from GRCouture@aol.com

Date: Mon, 1 Oct 2001 18:29:33 EDT From: GRCouture@aol.com Subject: FS: 4 Blizzak MZ-01 Winter Tires Hey gang, I hate to use the list as a place for business, but I figured i'd give other M3 owners first-dibs on these. My dad had a '98 M3/4 which had Bridgestone Blizzak MZ-01 225/50/16's on a set of winter rims for only one season (approximately 5K miles). He recently traded his M3 in, and sold the wheels to a friend - but still has the tires. Again, they're in great condition, with I'd say at least 90% of the tread left (I'll be happy to email pictures of the tread to those interested). The Tire Rack is asking $124/tire - he's only asking $350 shipped. Here's your chance to save over $200 on tires before the season hits! Please get back to me privately if interested. They were > built purely for the reason of satisfying the ACO's homologation rules and Does this bother _anyone else_ but me? The whole point of the E30M3 was to create a no-holds-barred, barely street legal, racing version 3-series. That's what always excited me about that car. But evolution happened. When the E36 came out, they got away from this a bit. But you're willing to overlook it for the fact that better the S50US then nothing at all. Then they made a sedan -- an automatic! -- and a convertible. The car is still extremely powerful and great handling, a magnificent car or we all wouldn't have bought it, but they started to dilute the brand. Now we have the E46M3. If you listen to the automotive journalists, it's the best thing since sliced bread. I don't believe it. It's hot and all, but it's still a luxo-barge. A damn fast one, but not what the name stood for in the beginning. And now we have the GTR. With this car in existence, the M3 is no longer the ultimate 3-series. May as well call it what it is -- the 332csi -- and let the GTR have the M3 name. Maybe I'm over-reacting a bit, but it just sounds silly to me to have the M- car, and the M-car Deluxe. For the past 15 years BMW has been building up the M-badge to mean the best, the ultimate BMW. By releasing the GTR and not simply upgrading the existing M, the M-badge just means pretty damn good. Just my $0.02. -peterg '95 BMW M3 (or 330is, as the E30 racers call it :-) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This message was sent using HiSpeed Technologies Webmail. http://www.hispeed.com
