So if you want to retrofit CC to a non-CC E36 car you should be prepared to splice some wires with ETM in hand or even lay some extra wiring if necessary. Now add the cost of a CC brain, new CC-enabled throttle body, etc, etc and it will cost upwards of $1K in new parts. > It also did not have the OBC, alarm or armrest, all of which > the buyer is interested in. Again, lack of universal modular wiring harness was a PITA, but I think he managed to get it to work. > The price is right on this one and I figured it may be worthwhile for > him to buy it and have cruise control retrofitted if possible (along > with the alarm and armrest). Who need CC anyway if you have a rev limiter? ;-) alex f

Honestly, the cost of a little >extra (10%) gas is small when compared to the real cost of the car >(purchase, maint, etc). Oh I agree 100%. That is why I bought this car. I very gladly apply excessive right foot pressure and enjoy every single minute of it. My friends were surprised to hear that I bought a car that requires 91+ octane. "Isn't premium gas so much more expensive, Kevin? Why would you buy a car that requires premium gas?", they would ask. I just looked at them and smiled, smiled, smiled. (Sometimes, I'd let them drive... then they would understand.) You aren't the same Daniel Snyder that owns the Washington Redskins, are you? I'm guessing no since you're on the other coast. Just think of all the E46M3s Snyder could have bought with the money he spent on the Skins a few years back. I have gotten as low as 22-23 mpg combined driving and as high as 29 mpg on the highway if I keep my speeds below 75 mph. I got 9.7 mpg this weekend at Mid-Ohio :-) My E30 325is averages about 24-25 mpg and has 100 less horsepower :-( Regards, Rich

What do you guys pay? $5.00/gallon???? This is the same thing as tire life. Some people get 30K miles from a set, while I am having a hard time getting 17K miles from mine with proper inflation and rotations. Everyone is drives differently (M3 or not). Some never rev past 4K while others bounce against the redline every chance. Now I gotta go and buy some new tires. anthony 95 ///M3 P.S. I get 20 mpg.

Three people weighing in at Me - 170 Dad - 180 My Mom - undisclosed A/C mostly on 3 cases of juice and two luggages When I pull up in the driveway I averaged 26.3. Keep in mind that I went through the mountains of colorado and at times I did stints of 90-110 :-) Now if I was Mr. Tang, I'd be drafting all the trucks and getting about 28-30... but that would mean I would have to go about 60 through the mountains and that wasn't happening with the M3. He on the other hand missed not having electric seats. As it turns out I found a low mileage 97 with the Luxury package (Cruise, leather, electric seats etc.) I find I really appreciate the Leather /Electric Seats but hardly ever use the cruise. I almost immediately added the factory alarm and CD changer which are no-brainers. Since then I've added Euro Lites, and the X-Brace is next. While another 100 HP would be nice this is a really fantastic machine. What did it cost and how difficult was it? Did it work as well as the factory installed option? The reason I asked is a buddy of mine and I checked out a 1997 M3 Sedan last night and noted that it did not have cruise control. This surprised me as I thought they nearly all had cruise control but a quick check under the hood verified it was not installed. It also did not have the OBC, alarm or armrest, all of which the buyer is interested in. I told him the armrest and the alarm are easy and I would not touch the OBC retrofit with a ten foot pole. The cruise I was not sure about though. The price is right on this one and I figured it may be worthwhile for him to buy it and have cruise control retrofitted if possible (along with the alarm and armrest). Please advise and thanks in advance. Now I'm kicking myself. ------------------------------------------------------- Where's a good place to get protective covers for the Euro headlights? I ordered the cut-to-fit headlight shield kit from Griots, including the positioning spray and squeegee. The film looked flawless the evening I put it on (a few days ago). By the next day, it developed a whole bunch of cloudiness under the film. It isn't air, either. I'm not a very happy camper. I also ordered a pre-cut kit for the original headlights/foglights from Griots. This was actually a thicker material with a 3M backing, which was drop-shipped from a different company. The cut-it-yourself kit was a thinner film with a plain brown paper backing. I didn't use the headlight shields yet, but the foglight covers went on flawlessly with no cloudiness. They remain crystal clear, and they've been on a month. - Chris
