Indeed, but this is also why many won't buy a German car with 100 000 km (a mere 60 000 miles) on the clock. :) -John '96 318is -- john.firestone@nord-com.net

#6. Bay Area Ultimate Drive needs more shuttle drivers - from D L Seeley

Date: Thu, 11 Oct 2001 06:27:14 -0800 From: D L Seeley <dlseeley@earthlink.net> Subject: Bay Area Ultimate Drive needs more shuttle drivers Hi, all - I'm back with another plea... Play hooky on Oct.26! Be part of a caravan of brand-new BMWs! Support a good cause! BMW's Ultimate Drive is coming to the Bay Area this month. Once again, the Susan G. Komen Foundation has asked CCA to shuttle the cars between dealerships. The response was great for the Roseville and Pleasanton legs and we have enough drivers for them. HOWEVER, I still need a dozen drivers for the Modesto to Seaside shuttle on Friday, Oct. 26 and I have to submit a list tomorrow. If you can help, please sign up at the GGC website, http://www.ggc-bmw-cca.org/Upcoming/shuttle.htm or send me an email at mailto:donna95m3@yahoo.com with your name, address, and phone. To answer the most common questions: (1) There are no advance signups for particular cars - it's first come first choice. To see what's in the fleet, go to http://www.bmwusa.com and find the Ultimate Drive under Events. (2) There will be a shuttle bus back to Modesto. Thanks in advance to those who sign up, and thanks to the rest of you for the bandwidth. Donna Seeley

They have a very talented engineering department at Dinan, not the least of which is Steve himself. Just so we can stop talking about alleged quotes, has anybody read the article, so as to tell us exactly what it's about? Jason Lombard > Have you all seen the latest issue of (I think) Car & Driver? My take is that the article was written like 3 months ago so the E46 M3 as new and Dinan probably didn't have the secret receipe for dynoing the M3 (turning off the traction control in a special sequence, as Josh said). I'm sure that they have it now.. -Matt --- Jason Lombard <racebro@santacruzbicycles.com> wrote: > Date: Thu, 11 Oct 2001 09:38:23 -0700 > From: "Jason Lombard" > <racebro@santacruzbicycles.com> > Subject: Re: Inability to Dyno E46 M3's > > I haven't seen the article, but knowing the quality > of Dinan's work (very > high, albeit expensive), I would be very surprised > if he wasn't basing what > he said off of direct experience on the dyno.
