Okay, maybe I'm being a bit over-optimistic here, but they could just get rid of all the stupid infomercials that run 18 hours a day and still have plenty of time for all the NASCAR you could take. Why would they get rid of F1, the series formerly know as the American LeMans series (recently returned to the former IMSA name). This "network" has the audience for these venues already installed, why would they break that. They should try and increase viewer ship rather than start all over with the NASCAR-Only network. I think that we all might be panicking over a "change" even when the change could be for the better. If this NFKASVN decides to bag the venues it has, imagine the hate mail they would receive. I for one got a satellite systems for two-fold purpose of hockey and Speedvision. The NFKASVN is not the only "corporation" that stands to lose money if they change "everything" about their coverage. Frankly, I'm sick of the stupid info-mercials. If I see that silly little bastard that wants to tell me how to buy cars cheap and sell them in hours for huge profits, I'm gonna puke. I'd rather watch Darrell Waltrip act like an idiot, at least he can be funny, sometimes. Didn't anyone listen to Bob Varsha sulk about the demise of the network at the end of the Suzuka F1 broadcast? If you heard it, it was clearly evident that the NFKASVN (Network Formerly Known As SpeedVisioN <- Sorry, but you guys all love acronyms) wasn't going to be the same in the near future. Excuse me, but I need another tissue to wipe away the tears... I guess I'll just have to get a job with an F1 team. If I can't watch the races, I guess I'll just have to be there first hand... After that it only retards timing/throttle. This is to prevent excessive brake wear that would be associated with the higher speeds." Don't forget about that big honkin' ASC-controlled throttle, right after your foot-controlled throttle. "If one were to actually remove the ASC throttle body, would you have to replace it with a big bore TB, or would you just get one from a '95?" Replace it with the plastic/rubber boot from the traction control-less 1998 M-Roadster. This mod has been done successfully by people on the web boards. ". It would be very bcool to have traction control that I could just flip on ONLY when it's slick so I don't have to worry about spinning my S03's trying to pull out into traffic." AKA normally off. Instructions on www.unofficialbmw.com. All you have to do is insert a capacitor into the switch harness. It charges up somewhat slowly, and full voltage isn't reached until the car is already running. When it does finally charge up, it looks to the computer like you've pressed the button. andy r. 98 m3/2

#7. service indicator lights - from Kevin M. Gregg

Date: Tue, 16 Oct 2001 20:37:30 -0400 From: "Kevin M. Gregg" <kevingregg@home.com> Subject: service indicator lights Hi- My 97 coupe had an Inspection I done Sept 18. The service indicator lights were reset at then. (I still had 2 yellow bars showing, I think.) I've noticed that two of the green bars have gone out already... only a month later. Does this sound right? Do the lights go from full green to red at a steady rate? I start the car between 2 and 4 times per day on weekdays and drive between 30 and 50 miles per day (not a lot, imo). What causes the lights to go out faster... starting the engine many times or driving long distances? I'd like to know more about how the computer decides that a service is needed. I know it is a combination of several variables. Can anyone shed light on it? Thanks. Kevin M. How many miles since then? > Does this sound right? Do the lights go from full > green to red at > a steady rate? Not entirely, there are some parameters that effect the rate the SI lights count down. See: http://www.peakeresearch.com/silights.shtml (BTW, the mileage points for your M3 are Oil Service - 10,000 miles and Inspection - 20,000 miles.) So the more "cold" miles, the faster the lights count down, for example. Hope that helps, Jim Bassett 1998 M3/4

I'd like to say that it really depends on distance driven. Two lights in one month? 50 miles a day? That seems a bit fast. Check out: http://www.peakeresearch.com/silights.shtml for a supposed formula, but I doubt credibility since how would the brain know when the engine was at operating temperature or not since we don't have an oil temp gauge? Or is it going off of coolant temp? Chester --- "Kevin M. Gregg" <kevingregg@home.com> wrote: > a steady rate? Yeah, but in order to get your first Inspection II covered under warranty, you really have to do the service at 7 - 7.5k miles. =) Chester ===== __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
