Before O-fest, I had the oil changed with 3 remaining green lights until Inspection I. The mechanic reset the indicators, restarting the count. My dealer is doing the Inspection I based on mileage because of the inadvertent reset. When he resets the lights this time, will it actually be cancelling the next oil change and be on the cycle for Inspection II? If so, I'll get Inspection II under maintenance. The mechanic reset the indicators, restarting the count. I hate it when people don't know how to follow directions! The dealer I bought the car at reset the lights when I put the first 2k miles on the car. I don't go there anymore. The current dealer I go for service recognized this oversight and gave me my first oil service earlier so that I can get Inspection II covered under waranty. > My dealer is doing the Inspection I based on mileage because of the > inadvertent reset. From this, you should be able to extrapolate whether you'd get Inspection II within the 36k miles or 3 years....or whatever it is. > When he resets the lights this time, will it actually be cancelling the next > oil change and be on the cycle for Inspection II? I don't think that the car remembers anything other than how many lights are still present. I think the dealers do it based on what's in the computer. So when you get Inspection I done, it will be recorded as Inspection I and not the next oil service. Of course, I've been known to be wrong. BTW, I had considered adding that modification because I routinely forget to turn it off on the track (but am quickly reminded somewhere around the first high speed corner when the power cuts out). My car has some some gauges in place of the sunglasses holder and it appears that getting to the back of the ASC switch would now be a royal pain. Tom Tice '98 M3/4 aka Hunter's car '99 540/6

If they drop the aviation and boating stuff as well there should be plenty of time to keep the current car and motorcycle racing. There's no separate P/N for the metal pump. Any pump you now order should be OK. The plastic pump was used through about 5/96 production, so all 95 models had it and some 96, but in theory no 97 or later cars. > Anything else I should have done? If it's a 95, then you should also add the front strut tower reinforcing plates: P/N 31 31 2 489 795 Neil 96 M3

I am sure many of you have done this. Where do you guys get the protection kit from? I called Turner, Bavarian, they don't have the pre-cut sheet for Euro headlights. Do I have to settle with cutting the sheet myself? Another question, after installing the protection kit, do you guys experience any loss of lumination? Of course, it's easier to install the film while the headlights are off the car. You shouldn't get any loss of illumination unless the film gets heavily scratched.
