They seem to work by limiting the angular freedom of movement of the trailing arm, thus restricting toe change and rear wheel steer. If you think about that, it also means that the reinforcements are not a substitute for replacing worn out bushings. > Did I get the right part? Yep. > And (they came without instructions) Mine came with a very rough hand-drawn sketch. > does the concave side of each part face inward (i.e. towards the center of the > bushing) when installed? Nope! When you drop the trailing arm bushing assembly out of the car, remove the pivot bolt and withdraw the arm with bushing from the carrier, you'll see that the carrier is stamped with convex sides pointing inward which match the concave bushing indents. (To get some freedom of movement of the trailing arm without straining the brake line, first remove the 2 bolts holding the brake line union bracket to the inside of the trailing arm. Now you can move the arm all you need. I also removed the lower shock mounting bolt, which may or may not be necessary.) To fit it all together, make a strong solution of dishwashing liquid in warm water and lube all the parts generously. The reinforcements and bushing are a tight snap fit into the carrier. > They're nicely made, out of Delrin. Yep! In use on the street they make the rear of the car feel somehow more planted. I was hoping to gauge their effectiveness on the track at Grattan Raceway last weekend, but it rained so much it was hard to tell, since we weren't generating too much in the way of lateral g-forces. Looks like I got the right part, they're made of UHMW (Ultra High Molecular Weight) plastic (not Delrin, as I had posted), they're pretty easy to install, and they appear to be an improvement over stock. Thanks again! -- ______________________________________ Andrew E. Kalman, Ph.D. aek@pumpkininc.com

What's the URL of the sticker that we decided on? Personally, I want mine to be as simple as possible, and I like the designs I did, but I'm willing to be democratic about this. :) If I don't hear from people in a few days, I'm going to get this one printed... http://www.mindspring.com/~kitwetzler/logo_e36M3_list6.gif (smoothed, of course...) Thanks everyone. Cost is gonna be around $2 per sticker, and should probably be paid by paypal. Color options will be white, chrome/silver or black.
