Very slippery and relatively hard. Makes a great bushing, better than acetals like Delrin. Delrin is usually made porous with a high oil content for lubricity, but the extra long saturated molecules of UHMW PE are just naturally slippery. andy r. 98 m3/2

Status of TC Kline Rollbars Clark, I would not suggest the use of a harness bar. I've seen enough roll overs that I would never install one for any use. In addition to that, I do not wear harnesses in my students cars either w/o at least a blot-in bar and tell them why I do not. If they choose to where them still, that is their decision. On the other side of this... I also do not suggest the use of a roll bar/cage if you drive the car everyday on the street. I totaled my 97M3 earlier this year and the seat broke! After this, I was tossed around the car, if there had been a bar I would have been injured, but luckily I was able to walk away. Personally, I have a roll bar and other common installs for driving schools in my E30M3 which does not get driven on the street much. However, after doing this more and more I want to build a dedicated track car with a nice welded in cage, proper seats, etc, but that will be a little while off. Hope this helps - Chris E30 ///M3 Near EVO E36 ///M3 Silver E36 ///M3 YELLOW!! At present it appears there is no availability of TC Kline rollbars. They have "lost" their fabricator - for the second time, how careless - and aren't accepting orders. I imagine that eventually their manufacturing fixtures will end up somewhere and the product will become available again. But don't hold your breath waiting. As far as I can find out that leaves Autopower as the sole US supplier of a standard bolt-in E36 rollbar. That may eventually change, but not right now. Bimmerworld will do a custom or semi-custom bar and I'm sure it's a fine product. There are other custom fabricators who'll make whatever you want, given enough time and/or money. Take a look at this : http://www4.ncsu.edu/~ctsalter/e36_m3_yellow_damage/interior_driver_seat.jpg There were four impacts in all, but the seat broke in the 2nd where I went backwards into a wall hard. I admit this was an odd situation that caused this type of an accident, BUT it _can_ happen. Apparently the seat should be able to hold the stress of the harnesses, but dont expect the harnesses to stay tensioned. Also, correct me if I'm wrong, this is kind of outside of my knowledge, but aren't harness bars suppose to help provide a more proper angle for the harness to go over your shoulders, not allowing your spine to be as compressed? I know the cross brace from my roll bar doesn't really achieve this since by the end of a weekend my back is really hurting. -Chris E30 ///M3 Near EVO E36 ///M3 Silver E36 ///M3 YELLOW!! Yahoo Groups http://groups.yahoo.com has a "polling" feature built in. Since I moderate several of these already, I would be willing to be the moderator for an E36M3 Group to take care of this. It will manage the single vote by email and limit login to members of the list. There are two huge caveats here: One, it would require all those who wish to vote to create a yahoo ID if they do not have one already, they are simple and attached to your email. Two, I would need a list of all members of the list so I can subscribe them to the list by their email account. I would not want to do this without Suzy's okay, managing a mail-list is a thankless job fraught with issues that most of us never see (Thanks, Suzy. I appreciate what you do, because I know what it entails!). So...we have a "means" to do it and a willing volunteer. Mel Silva, CIO Scale Auto Racing, Inc. It finally shipped yesterday, which is about 2-3 days too late for me to get it and make the Mid-Ohio club race next weekend. So I'm going to miss my first scheduled club race. The 8 months included inaccurate schedules, broken promises and a few outright lies. I did hear yesterday from a very, very reliable source that TCKline is officially out of the rollbar business because of the problems and what it is doing to his reputation. I trust this source, but I've not heard that from TC himself. Vern Anderson 98 M3/2 Barred, soon to be caged, but not soon enough. I will speak to my programmer today but I don't see it as a problem because he already wrote the application (and I used it for my pumpkin voting contest last year and I will need it again this year) and I think that it is already alive and working on the servers. All I will need is the latest designs to be entered. Whoever has them can send them to m3@waynemiller.com. I will know more later today and keep everyone informed. -Wayne
