I voted for 4 but really like Kim's idea, but with 1 without the windows. Personally I like the wing at the back but 1 or 2 work with 14 in the valance area. Brightens up the image and has best profile. I don't mean to prolong this but ...... #3. [E36M3] JC Intake / Euro HFM Questions - from Robert Liu

Date: Fri, 26 Oct 2001 04:57:38 -0700 (PDT) From: Robert Liu <bob_a_liu@yahoo.com> Subject: [E36M3] JC Intake / Euro HFM Questions Last night, me and a couple buddies installed a JC intake, euro HFM, and chip into my 95 M3, 155k miles, stock except for a flowmaster exhaust. Before the install, we used a GTECH to measure the hp. We made two runs at 210 rwhp. Sounded reasonable, maybe a little high. After the install, went back out to the same spot to retest. The temperature was a little cooler (61 deg vs. 70 deg). The first run was 211, the second run was 210, and the third run was 231, and the fourth run was 221. While driving out there, I did notice a little pinging from the engine. Even stock, I would hear slight pinging once in a while when driving. Does the software algorithm for the JC chips take out timing, and put it back in after a certain amount of time? I'm wondering if that's why I have such inconsistent readings, or it could be just the GTECH. Are the M3 injectors known to need injector cleaning? I only use brand name premium gas, so I didn't think it would be necessary. Also, my O2 sensor is original, at 155k miles. I know the maintenance schedule says to replace the O2 sensor more often. Is this just a precaution, or is it necessary because of a degradation in quality of the signal? #7. Windshield polishing - Bon Ami - from Dan Miley
Top
Date: Fri, 26 Oct 2001 08:50:09 -0400 From: Dan Miley <dmiley@rcn.com> Subject: Windshield polishing - Bon Ami The tried and true way to clean up a windshield is to use the fine Bon Ami powder that you can buy at old-time hardware stores. I have used it and it does a nice job of cleaning off the wiper blade residues, bug and tree scunge, and other stuff that makes a windshield hard to see through and that Windex doesn't remove. I have heard that there are two grades of Bon Ami, one coarser than the other, so make sure you get the fine powder. It won't repair any damage caused by pits in the glass. I don't think anything short of windshield replacement can do that, but you may find that your windshield clarity is good enough after the Bon Ami treatment that you can live with it. Of course, the next line of treatment is the "toss a rock at the windshield and call the insurance company" approach. Can't say I've ever had to resort to this. A rock delivered by a truck usually does it first. If you go for the crack-it-yourself approach, cover your hood with a blanket. You'd really hate yourself if the rock bounced off and dented your hood! (You could just hold the rock in your hand rather than throw it...) --Dan (not recommending that you use rocks near nice cars...)

I've been able to get consistant 0-60 results. Your numbers are kind of all over the place and generally too high so I'm guessing that you're not having any luck. The O2 sensor can get weak and its switching time will slow down, hurting milage and emissions without necessarily throwing a CE light. It really is a good idea to replace it with the interval. Your engine may be knocking due to carbon buildup. If you search the archives you'll see some recommendations for injector, valve and carbon cleaning products. I usually just use the old suck a little water into the intake to clean out carbon.. -Matt --- Robert Liu <bob_a_liu@yahoo.com> wrote: > Date: Fri, 26 Oct 2001 04:57:38 -0700 (PDT) > From: Robert Liu <bob_a_liu@yahoo.com> > Subject: [E36M3] JC Intake / Euro HFM Questions > > Last night, me and a couple buddies installed a JC > intake, euro HFM, and chip into my 95 M3, 155k > miles, > stock except for a flowmaster exhaust. The improvement is definitely noticeable! I really can blind the cars in front of me with my headhlight :P I think I need to adjust the headhlight beam pattern's height lower. With that being said, is there a FAQ somewhere about correctly adjusting your headlight beam pattern? I questioned the service manager and he claims that is what BMW calls for in my '99 M3. It's coming out this weekend when I have time and will be replaced with Vol Synthese, but just wanted to know if he's lying or mis-informed, or cheap. Don't have the paperwork or manual handy.
