Date: Sat, 3 Nov 2001 03:16:29 EST From: RacerxJLing@aol.com Subject: supercharger clutch I spoke w/ Wil Turner himself of Turnermotorsports....he STRONGLY advised staying with an OEM clutch. He said their race cars w/ SC's run the stock clutch all day long and can stand the abuse. I have 25k miles on my OEM clutch w/ the SC...no problems. However, I don't track/autox nor dump the clutch often. What clutches are everyone using...I want something that will hold 280-300 rwhp. (Is that what I should expect from a Dinan blower?)<< >>

My M3's not as reliable as I thought Thank you so much for all your replies, both public and private! For those who have asked, my 95 M3 has just broke 111k miles. The responses all fell into one of the following categories: 1. The price sounds high. Get a second opinion. 2. That sounds about right for the job. Get a second opinion. 3. How does he know all that stuff needs to be replaced? Get a second opinion. I guess I know what my next step is! Thanks everyone for the show of support. I'll keep you posted on the outcome. - Chris

Folks, FWIW, the renowned Curry's Auto Services in Chantilly recently replaced the O2 sensor in my early '95 M3 with a Bosch unit. I saw the box. Unfortunately, I didn't write down a part number, and the invoice is mute on the subject. So, it looks like Bosch makes an O2 sensor for the M3, but at $177, it doesn't sound like an inexpensive generic model. #5. [OT]: FOR SALE: G-Tech Performance Meter - from Andrew E. Kalman

Date: Sat, 03 Nov 2001 08:42:48 -0700 From: "Andrew E. Kalman" <aek@pumpkininc.com> Subject: [OT]: FOR SALE: G-Tech Performance Meter I'm selling my G-Tech unit. Measures g-force, etc. Complete, used maybe 5 track days, in good condition. $65 includes shipping. Summit Racing sells it new for $139. "The G Tech performance meter uses an advanced electronic accelerometer to measure seven performance characteristics on a four digit LED display. These include horsepower, 0-60 mph times, 60-0 braking times, 1/4 mile ET, 1/4 mile top speed, and instantaneous or continuous G force. Like having a dyno, skid pad, and dragstrip in the palm of your hand, this unit allows you to track changes from tuning and component swaps to optimize performance and handling. It includes cigarette lighter power cord and windshield mount." -- ______________________________________ Andrew E. Kalman, Ph.D. aek@pumpkininc.com

AA's kit is pretty booty, they take the $350 aquamist kit, add a reservoir and some tubing and call it $1100. It doesn't even include the 3d water mapping! -kit

I like the two in-cabin switch/LEDs they give you for an exact console fit, and, I like the idea that they have installed this in a supercharged M3 and have charted its progress on the dyno...And perhaps most of all, I like the service the Hughs give. Good luck in trying to iron out the bugs with Aquamist. So, suit yourself, and maybe if you have a lot of time to spend on the project, and are willing to take some risk yourself, go right ahead...I'll take the AA aproach any day. --------------------------------------------------------- Paul Elliott '99 White M3; < 35K miles; Dinan stage II sc kit; Rotex pads;X-Brace; Stygar SS and Clutch Stop; Sound by Polk, Excelon, JLAudio ----- Original Message ----- From: "Kit Wetzler" <kitwetzler@mindspring.com> To: "Paul Elliott" <pelliott@rcn.com> Cc: "E36M3" <e36m3@bmw-m.net> Sent: Saturday, November 03, 2001 12:00 PM Subject: RE: : supercharger clutch > > I dont know about 'decently priced', but I do know the one from Acitve > > Autowerkes is designed to work well in your M3. #9. Home Made LTW? - from bs

Date: Sat, 3 Nov 2001 14:05:50 -0500 From: "bs" <m3bs@home.com> Subject: Home Made LTW? I think I'm about ready to start putting the M3 on a diet. Anybody got any experience with taking some weight off, short of doing anything irreversible (no cutting or grinding)? How much can be saved by removing back seat, carpet, sound deadener, switching the fronts to racing shells, etc.? I figure this is cheaper performance than adding HP for track purposes.

The person was asking about a '96 M3, which uses a Siemens OBDII DME. That system uses a different oxygen sensor (which is made by Siemens and NTK) than the Bosch OBDI DME in your '95 M3.
