#4. Best LTW flywheel? Clutch? - from Rob

Date: Wed, 14 Nov 2001 19:00:21 -0700 From: "Rob" <motor@cadvision.com> Subject: Best LTW flywheel? Clutch? Okay, anyone know who makes the best E36 LTW flywheel?. A number of different vendors offer then, although I know for a fact that a few sell the same part, but are there any appreciable difference between all of them? To go with the non-dual mass flywheel I would also like a proper clutch disc with a sprung hub to reduce driveline shock, which is "the" one to get?. Thanks Rob

#6. Rear trailing arms - 3.0 vs 3.2 ?? - from Rob

Looking over the ETK I noticed that the 3.0L and 3.2L cars use different rear trailing (control) arms. I know the bushings are better on the 3.2L cars but what on earth could be different about the arms?. Anyone know what the difference is from '95 to '96?. Thanks Rob

My experience is that shocks can play a huge role in ride quality, especially the compression damping. With stock springs on my 97 M3, and Koni double adjustables set of full soft, the car rides stiffer than stock, but more controlled, and still comfortable. Raising the compression setting just 6-7 clicks makes the car very harsh over bumps. Running them in the stiffer settings compression and rebound makes the car have horrible harsh ride on the street. The best autocross settings are way to harsh for the street. #8. dyno testing, proper hold down points? - from The Abels

I'm heading back to the dyno tomorrow afternoon to see if the trinkets I added to the M3 do anything. Last time I went, the toothless monkeys at the speed shop had trouble finding appropriate tie down spots in the rear. Anyone know what these are? I have visions of torqued, pretzled lower control arms that give me the shivers. Jeff 97 M3/4 with baubles

#9. Buying a new car, under $10k - from Brent95M3@aol.com
Top
Date: Wed, 14 Nov 2001 00:39:05 EST From: Brent95M3@aol.com Subject: Buying a new car, under $10k I am selling my M3. It is tough deciding what to get when you don't have a large source of funds to purchase with. I am considering a few cars, I am looking for some input and am very open. 89-92 535i w/ ~100k miles 92-93 SC400/300 w/ ~110-120k miles I've considered the 525i but I am unsure as to how "slow" it is. (I know none of them will equal the M3) I do not want to invest a fortune on mods and the 535 will be fairly quick stock (or w/ a chip). If anyone has any input i'd be open to it. Thanks, Brent Parks 95 M3 soon to be sold

Date: Wed, 14 Nov 2001 01:31:56 EST From: LoweSeaton@aol.com Subject: Re: [E36M3] Suspension Upgrades Seth and others write: This is my experience with the coilovers. They are really smooth for what you are getting and you can set the height as low as you want them. They are stiffer than stock but they are not as stiff as H&R's and Bilstiens or the Dinan setup. Somebody with C/O's help me explain this next point. Remember C/O's use a pure linear rate spring vs. progressive rate springs with stock/Dinan/H&R/Eibach/etc. Linear rate springs dramatically change the way your suspension moves. I've heard C/O's described as "bouncy." I don't think most people will like daily driving on linear rate springs. Just be sure you know what you are getting into with C/O's on a daily driver. Personally, I think C/O's are best for predominant track use with limited street use. Lowell Seaton '95 M3 Dallas, Texas
