Wow! The part is something around $50-$60 as I recall. Installation takes about 20 minutes for a first timer working out of the Bentley manual. No special tools or equipment needed other than a paperclip. The factory codes the cylinder off your VIN when you order the part - that's why it takes 2-3 weeks to get it. Can't imagine how any dealer justified $800 for this job. -- Ron Katona

#2. dual pickup fuel pump - from Scott Smith

Date: Sat, 17 Nov 2001 12:04:32 -0800 From: Scott Smith <ssmith@akamai.com> Subject: dual pickup fuel pump Anybody have any information on a dual pickup fuel pump for a '95 M3? My fuel pump is on the fritz, and since my car is a racecar, I'd like to go ahead and upgrade to the dual pickup if possible. (they're now allowing them for all classes) Scott

#4. Need Help: changed thermostat and waterpump - from Justin P.
Top
Date: Sat, 17 Nov 2001 18:19:15 -0800 From: "Justin P." <jpaek421@home.com> Subject: Need Help: changed thermostat and waterpump Hello fellow enthusiasts, This afternoon, I replaced the thermostat, aluminum thermostat housing, and metal impellor waterpump. I took the proper procedures to refill the coolant and I noticed that I was not able to fill in at least 1 gallon of mixed coolant/distilled water. No hot air was circulating through the vents either after the car was running about for 15 mins. After 15 minutes, I noticed the temp guage was slowly passing the halfway mark. The thermostat was also put in so that the little arrow was pointing up. I assume the thermostat I purchased is faulty and is not opening properly. Anybody have any other suggestions on what the problem may be? Thanks in advanced for any help! -Justin

Your diagnosis is accurate. This happened to me. I had a BMW replacement thermostat that would not open. Even in boiling water. 2. You need to burp your system, as you have a vapor lock. Other than the 'burping' screw at the top of the radiator, not sure how to cure this. I'm sure someone else on the list much more mechanically adept can guide you. Or visa-versa. It's supposed to be level when you bleed it. 2) Drill a small hole in the thermostat prior to installation. The hole should be at the top. 3) Drill and tap a new bleeder screw hole at the top of a metal thermostat housing. -Matt --- The Abels <aAbel@austin.rr.com> wrote: > Date: Sat, 17 Nov 2001 23:29:11 -0600 > From: "The Abels" <aAbel@austin.rr.com> > Subject: Re: [E36M3] Need Help: changed thermostat > and waterpump > > One of two things, in my experience: > > 1.
