I hadn't thought of the ASC+T angle but that might be part of it. No. I was just comparing the size of the brake pads. The front brake pads are 2x the size of the rear pads. So even though the rear brakes are doing less work, they are so much smaller that they wear out about the same time as the fronts. I've often wondered if BMW didn't undersize the rear pads just for this reason. Maybe BMW wants you to replace all 4 pads at the same time for some reason? But you have a '95 b/4 ASC, so Im surprised youre wearing as fast as me...Except you do alot of track work. Still, no matter, I would think that the '95s would be closer to the accustomed 2 to 1 ratio. Interesting.

#2. update: changed thermostat, waterpump - from Justin P.

Date: Mon, 19 Nov 2001 22:11:44 -0800 From: "Justin P." <jpaek421@home.com> Subject: update: changed thermostat, waterpump Okay I took out the thermostat and it seems to be in working order. I'm guessing it's a restriction in the radiator since I can't put more than half a gallon in the coolant resovoir. The coolant is getting stuck somewhere when I pour coolant in(Yes the heater controls are at max and the car ignition is positioned on. The only way to get more coolant in is to blow into the resovoir to circulate the coolant through the block. As I bleed the coolant system, the heater controls set at max blow out cold air, the upper radiator hose remains hot, the lower radiator hose remains cold, and steam blows out of the bleed screw when the temp guages reads at the 3/4 mark. What is the best way to check to see if I have a restriction in the radiator? By the way, I did take out the whole radiator when I was putting in my new waterpump and thermostat. To take off the radiator, I took off the bottom coolant sensor as well as the small coolant hose that runs on the bottom of the fan shroud which connects to the radiator. Is this the correct way to take out the radiator? Anybody have any other suggestions on what the problem might be? Thanks, Justin Paek 95 ///M3 > > One of two things, in my experience: > > 1. Inner tire wear on both sides. Wheel alignment done approx 25k miles ago. Car has H&R/Bilsteins/RD sways/X-brace. I missed the discussion re replacing the bushings (powerflex)...do u think it's necessary? If so, what bushings are replaced front and rear? What special tools needed? Thanks Jeff

I have heard that BMW uses 100%+ anti-lift geometry in the rear suspension. This actually causes the rear end to squat slightly under braking, reducing dive angle. I don't think this would effect rear brake pad life. I don't know about the S40, but Ford has been doing a lot of benchmarking of BMW's, so it wouldn't surprise me that they copied BMW's use of high anti-lift geometry in the rear suspension. My first driver's school a couple weekends back, I wore the front and rear pads at about the same rate, with a 95 M3. I thought it was odd. Go to the BG Products website: http://www.bgprod.com/ to read all about their products, etc. To find someone in your area who sells the products, go to: http://www.bgprod.com/locator.html to find a distributor in your area. Call the distributor and ask him/her for the names of a few shops in your city who sell the products. I don't think that the distributors will sell directly to non-commercial end users, but I may be wrong. -rb >Date: Fri, 16 Nov 2001 05:44:29 -0800 (PST) >From: Ed Tang <etangf1@yahoo.com> >Subject: toluene or Xylene > >Speaking of fuel additives, does anyone know you can >get the BG44K cleaner? So, considering that the US-market cars aren't even shipped with Launch Control enabled, I would imagine that just installing the software to enable the feature would probably void your warranty.
