#1. OT - Speedvision (NASCAR TV) - from Dorffer, Rich
Top
Date: Fri, 30 Nov 2001 10:56:59 -0500 From: "Dorffer, Rich" <RDORFFER@CleIndians.com> Subject: OT - Speedvision (NASCAR TV) Note to self, downgrade cable selection beginning February 2002 from 'basic digital' (which is what level I needed to obtain Speedvision at $49 a month) to 'basic cable' which only costs $13. Time Warner rapes us for digital cable. We need competition. Having just moved to Akron, Ohio from Cleveland, Ohio where my cable with Speedvision was only $28 surprised me when I had to buy the $49 month package to get Speedvision. Areas of Ohio that have cable competition have ~$25 month digital cable. Regards, Rich - Not a lover of NASCAR but could be saving some on cable bills in the near future.

I'm sure that could make a difference on optimal settings with the Konis. I have the H&R Sports and keep my Koni S/As set at one full turn from soft in the front and rear. I think it's just about perfect, though I wouldn't mind at least trying an extra quarter or half turn in the rear... I just don't want to take them out again to experiment. ;) I'm very happy with the current settings though. #9. Conforti/Eurosport OBD2 cam kit impressions - from Steven Tom
Top
Date: Fri, 30 Nov 2001 10:53:07 -0800 From: Steven Tom <stom@qualcomm.com> Subject: Conforti/Eurosport OBD2 cam kit impressions Well I just got my car back last night. The car is fast and pulls hard. The following are my initial impressions. Before cam kit installation Base line dyno: I had to first remove the shark programming to get base line dyno readings from my car. I will say that I noticed the shark removal instantly. The car no longer breathed as easy and didn't pull as hard to redline. Not only that, I also lost the extra 500 rpm to redline that the programming gives you. Not fun. My base line numbers were 208.4 rwhp and 214.2 rwtq. After cam kit installed Driveability: The car driveability is the same as stock. In traffic, I can still handle stop and go traffic in the exact same way. There's no bucking or any weird things going on. Cruising at 1-3mph @ 1000 rpm in first gear no problem and no knocking. Same as stock. There's no knocking under any load, any RPM. Mind you this is with the crappy California Gas 91 octane. Power: Power is everywhere. The graph on Eurosports website pretty much says it all. The car in stock trim stops pulling after 4.5k rpm and essentially feels like you have a car with a lot of torque down below but not much breathing room up top. After the cam kit, you have more power everywhere. There's a kick at 3.8k rpm and really starts pulling at 5k rpm all the way to redline. It pulls so strong and clean that it feels like my car should have an 8k rpm redline. Your waiting for the engine to peak but it never does. The engine never peaks on power. It keeps pulling all the way through to the new rev limit. The motor feels strong and thorough. OBD2 adaptation: When I first got the car it would die coming to a stop light getting off the gas. I called Josh and he said it was part of the adaptation and the car having to re-learn the new programming. He said to give it a few miles and it will clear up. It ended up taking about 8-10 stops and sure enough the idle just fixed itself. I now have 25 miles on the car and it's more or less fine. The idle seems kind of low, 550-600 rpm. If the car is cold and you raise the 50 rpm's off idle and release the gas it will die. I expect this to clear up too. I believe the idle is suppose to be around 650-700 but I'm not to sure. Josh says it's an easy fix with the programming. Installation: I had the installation done at Apex Motorsports in San Diego, 858-751-0710. I was told that the installation went smooth without complications or drama. They actually said that the OBD2 car was less cluttered inside than the OBD1 car making for an easier installation. Under the hood there's very little difference except for the BIG air filter. I think it's the same one that comes in the JC CAI. Conclusion: Love the power! It seems like someone changed the input ratio of my gas pedal relative to speed traveling. It's similar to having a sports button on the new E46 M3. It's also very nice daily driving because you have to do less work to get there faster. I'm going in to get my car re-dynoed on Thursday. I will let you know what I discover. Currently two thumbs up. I love the power! steve
