Then I put a small plastic bag over the original connector, taped it up, and tucked it away. If I ever want to go back to original, the connectors are still there. You can probably do the same for your audio connections. mark.greer@excite.com <snip> >On Thu, 6 Dec 2001 16:09:06 -0600, E36M3 wrote: > 4. Date: Fri, 07 Dec 2001 16:43:54 From: "Ron Buchalski" <rbuchals@hotmail.com> Subject: RE: [E36M3] Re: Aftermarket Exhaust Recommendations For those who are interested, I have two sound files - stock and Supersprint - from my '95 M3. One file is 714KB in size, and the other is 873KB. They are .wav files. You can find them at: http://www.xecu.net/rbuchals Both recordings were done with my PC, using 'Sound Recorder'. The microphone was taped to the rear bumper, about 12" from the exhaust pipes. The recording level was set the same for both. For each recording, I started the car, and ran the engine up to redline in first gear. Most of the sound differences are apparent at idle and up to about 3000 rpm. I haven't yet heard the car from outside (while someone drives by). The recording for the Supersprint has some wind noise that the stock recording doesn't have. -rb _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp

#6. Weird shifter behavior - from David Ngo
Top
Date: Fri, 7 Dec 2001 14:11:33 -0500 From: David Ngo <dngo@commvault.com> Subject: Weird shifter behavior Hi everyone, I've recently noted some strange behavior of my shifter in my '98 M3/4 with ~53K miles. When the car's cold, if I shift into 5th and then try to put the car in a different gear, the transmission feels like it 'sticks'. The tranny moves out of gear and the shifter moves freely, but if I let the shifter go in neutral it stays in a position that's about 20 deg. right of normal. With a little manipulation, the tranny feels like it pops back into place and all is well and normal. This behavior occurs while driving straight, so it's not something like the tranny mounts. I've also recently replaced the transmission fluid with Redline. Any ideas of what might be going on? Thanks, Dave --- David Ngo dngo@commvault.com CommVault Systems, Inc.

There will be two black wires there. They are the only wires there aside from the obvious wires going to the ignition coils. These long wires also run towards the back on 3.2L cars (not sure about '95 M3s) and down the block. Not the sounds I was expecting though... The stock file sounded sort of AA-esque to me and the Supersprint sounded quieter. Then again, I'm listening in mono too, so maybe that makes a difference?
