#4. Headlight Upgrade - from Colin_S_Whelan@rrfc.raytheon.com

Date: Sat, 8 Dec 2001 17:41:55 -0500 From: Colin_S_Whelan@rrfc.raytheon.com Subject: <E36> Headlight Upgrade I just performed this headlight upgrade on my '98 M3 (w/o ellipsoids) and the results are well worth the $30. http://www.bmwe34.net/E34main/Upgrade/More_light.htm The 9005 bulbs provide 1700 Lumens vs the stock 9006's 1000. The 9005's consume 60W vs the 51W of the 9006's, leading to another <1.5A curent draw for the two. I decided not to upgrade the fuse to protect the wiring, just in case. Remember to swap over the O-rings from the stock 9006's to the 9005's after you're done making the modifications to the housings. Overall, you get much brighter, whiter lighting and no adverse effects so far. -Colin '98 M3 (JC soft/intake, X-brace, Euro rotors/R4S, clutch stop, Redline, 9005s)

#5. OBDII Scan Tools for Air Fuel Mixture? - from Paul Elliott
Top
Date: Sat, 8 Dec 2001 18:37:46 -0500 From: "Paul Elliott" <pelliott@rcn.com> Subject: OBDII Scan Tools for Air Fuel Mixture? After my recent modification of adding water injection and 3 more psi, Im making 50 more rear wheel HP according to my comparitive readings of before and after using my trusty Gtech pro. Even though everything feels fine, quiet, and smooth, Id feel better if I could confirm that my air fuel mix is still ok...Ive been looking at a couple of OBDII scan tools... I dont have a laptop to use, so I need to get one of those self-contained types, like the EzLink from Autoxray. It supposedly does live data capture, and does monitor O2 sensors...But, does anybody know whether this type of tool can be used to report on air/fuel mixture? I would think all it has to do is pull the voltage of the sensor circuit, but someone wrote that this was an 'Enhanced OBDII' function, and hence, not available on this particular scan tool. Thanks. --------------------------------------------------------- Paul Elliott '99 White M3; < 40K miles; Dinan stage II SC kit with 6" crank pulley: 11 psi; AA Water Injection; Rotex pads;X-Brace; Stygar SS and Clutch Stop; Sound by Polk, Excelon, JLAudio
