I was clocked in my wife's red 4-door at around midnight on 101 just south of Monterey (on the way to see family). I was doing almost 100mph and was paced. The V1 was on the dash and in plain sight (although I shut it off). He flat out stated that he was more concerned with DUIs and since I was straightforward with him, he let us off. I think having the wife in the PS helped me get off too -- they're never that nice to me when I'm alone. > point for a V1. if you're seen frantically pulling something off the dash > and shoving it under the seat, i would guess things would go a bit harder > with you. Another thing to watch here is suspicious activity that might mean "handgun". You don't think about it, but in some states more cops are killed during traffic stops than in drug raids. Being a "suspicious looking character" (young guy, grizzled beard, loud rap music) in a high-end sports car, I make a point of lowering all of my windows, taking my paperwork and putting it on the passenger seat, and quietly waiting with my hands on the wheel while the officer walks up along side. No reason to make him/her nervous at a time when you want them to be your friend. -peterg ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This message was sent using HiSpeed Technologies Webmail. http://www.hispeed.com

They are not brand new looking, but they balance fine. 2 wheels have small scratches on them. They are a 40mm offset. They fit great on my 97 M3/4. They are extremely lightweight and make great track wheels. 16lbs. I've never used them with track tires. I've run 235/40r17 AVS intermediates and MXX3s and I've run 245/40r17 Yokohama AVS sports on them. I'm selling because I want a different look for the car... They're on the car right now, but the tires on them will be dismounted, so they're being sold without tires. I'm looking for $800 for them. No shipping. If you're in the SF bay area, I can probably deliver to most places. They will be ready for sale in a few days. -kit 97 m3/4 with boost (albeit a small amount ;) -------------------------------------------------------------------- mail2web - Check your email from the web at http://mail2web.com/ .

You mention moving to this country 5 years ago, and your name sounds like it's of hispanic origin.. So I'm guessing that you probably look hispanic as well.. I wouldn't be at all surprised if that's why you've gotten a ticket for everyone incident. I don't think they're out to get you, but they might be slightly prejudiced for whatever reason.. I think Southern California especially has a problem with illegal immigrents from the south, who are therefore less likely to have a license or insurance (I'm not sure if it's legally possible to obtain a CA license without being a legal immigrant -- I'd assume not, but I'm not sure). Anyway, I imagine it could be a subconscious thing on their part, but perhaps a larger than average percentage of hispanics get tickets for offenses that could really go either way (ticket or warning). I'm not sure what you mean by humiliating yourself and letting a cop belittle you.. have they tried to belittle you? If so, that's defiantely a problem. If if they're treating you with respect, I'm not sure how you could change and start humiliating you.. ? For what it's worth, I've gotten stopped.. 6 times. 5 in washington, 1 in california. 4 of the 6 were for speeding. I got off twice (one was legit, the other was for "passing" a cop by going 62mph in a 60) and got ticketed twice. The one in california was a vascar 85 in a 65 with my v1 firmly attatched to the windshield.. he was right behind me so i didn't have the opportunity to take it off. Thank california for the online driver's school! I got out of that speeding ticket. I probably get more scrutiny than most as well, becase I'm 20.. But I've always been extremely courteous as well. I've never been humiliated, but noone's belittled me yet. If they wanted to belittle me, I'd go for it to get out of a ticket -- do you know what my insurance looks like? But anyway, I'm not sure how to initiate the conversation wherein I get the officer to flip me crap in exchange for letting me out of the ticket. A buddy of mine got pulled over a few days ago while driving the car I sold him a month ago.. the cop got pissed and was insisting it was stolen (snafu with the registration transfer at the bank, it turns out).. Anyway, they got ahold of me and I told the officer that I had indeed sold the car. He seemed pretty upset, and jumped at me with "well, why didn't you transfer the registration?" I politely explained that it was handled by the bank, at which point he calmed down and told me friend he could go. I always wonder what got him so riled up in the first place, though. I've never had a cop be anything but nice to me when I got pulled over, and I'm sure as hell not going to start something with him. I have talked to cops that say that 9/10 of the people they pull over every day take an attitude with them. What's with that? It makes me wonder why I haven't gotten FEWER tickets when I get pulled. Anyway, keep it up. Be polite, and hope for the best. That's all you can really do. I don't think warnings are as prevalant as they say they are, but hopefully you're just experiencing bad luck rather than prejudice. BTW, 6 times in 5 years.. man, with the way traffic moves in CA, I'm surprised anyone ever gets stopped! :) - reid > Anybody gotten off with a warning in CA? > I've been stopped 6 times since moving to this country > some 5 years ago, and CA in particular, and I've been blessed > with idem number of tickets. No reason to > make him/her nervous at a time when you want them to be your friend. Where is your paperwork to begin with? I think it's a pretty terrible idea to be rummaging around in your GLOVE BOX for god's sake as he pulls you over.. that's worse than putting the v1 away! I've been told to lower your windows, put both hands on the wheel (or at least in plain sight). Lots of times they won't ask for certain pieces of paperwork, I'm not sure I want to look like I get pulled over all the time by getting it out early. Maybe get your license out, but again, reaching for a wallet in the back pocket involves lifting your body up and can look suspicious too. I just have whatever conversation the officer wants to have with me. When he asks for my license and registration, I tell him my license is in my wallet and my registration is in the glovebox, then I proceed to reach for both. I've been told you should ask if it's ok to get it out of your glovebox, but I think that kind of screams "hey, I get pulled over all the time" or "hey, I've read advice on what to do when you get pulled over" and is pretty patronizing anyway. Just don't make sudden movements :) - reid

For example, how they compare to Hawk Blues, HT 10's, PF97's, R4's, Pagid RS14, etc? These are the pads of choice of Bobby Archer Motorsports (the Viper folks), and are billed as rotor friendly, fairly high coefficient of friction, cool running, non-rotor-warping pad. The pad will be used as a track only pad, looking for absolute stopping power, fade resistance, reasonable rotor wear, etc. Noise, dust not an issue. www.thebrakeman.com Jeff 97 M3/4, with horrible street pads
