Rereading my original message, I didn't explain my stupidity quite well enough. :) Unfortunately this was just a test piece. It sounded so good on the way to the dyno, I was tempted to cut and run with it. (They'd never find me where I live, in the woods of Pennsylvania!) To get the real thing, I have to get in line just like everyone else. They mentioned something to me about re-testing with a true stock car, so hopefully we'll still be able to see some stock dyno curves soon. - Chris

First for teasing about the exhaust. it sounds good to your ears, cool, but when you also make a comparison to a Borla on a 4 cylinder, like DUH. apples to apples when making public comparisons!!! It almost smelled of marketing IMO. Get the ball rolling about a new product by stating some vague info but no real facts, gets everybody wondering etc etc etc. But since it is Ben, hope it works for his company, lol. Mike, now I really do feel a little compelled to defend myself. I am in no way affiliated with Rogue Engineering. I just happen to be one of the poor fools who has never modified his E36 M3 in its 115k miles of life. That's really my only claim to fame here. Regarding the Borla - yes I have heard a Borla on a 318ti, but *no*, this was not the direct comparison in my original posting. I have heard plenty of M3s at car show events and on the streets with aftermarket exhausts, and I did not like the sound from outside the car. I've also had a ride in a couple of cars with aftermarket exhausts, all of which were too loud for my tastes (again I drive for a living). Please go re-read my post, I was very careful about posting exactly what I was comparing this to. Now granted I'm somewhat new to the E36 M3 performance community and the mailing lists, so I don't have all the experience that you guys do. If you think my post smelled of marketing, maybe you were just misreading my enthusiasm for an exhaust product that, for the first time, I've actually liked. If you think there were no real facts, you're right! I only posted my opinions, and that's all I am allowed to do. And if you're just poking at the new guy and if this is my hazing, well, then I guess I just have to grin and bear it. :) Happy Holidays everyone, - Chris

Unless this was an exhaust that was being shipped from a different test mule, etc, etc. Anyway, my point is that an exhaust's note will change once all the crud inside melts away and the exhaust breaks in. I plan to use them (adjusted for the stock springs) with the stock springs and PowerFlex bushings. I'll drive around for a while and then swap on some H&R sport springs and see how I like it. If I feel that it is too harsh, I might just go with the H&R OE Sport springs. Stay tuned.... Chester, I will definitely stayed tuned...most interested. Good luck with the project. #7. adjusting sway bars - from Mdriver13@aol.com

Date: Sat, 22 Dec 2001 18:22:17 EST From: Mdriver13@aol.com Subject: adjusting sway bars Group, I have Eibach sway bars set to full soft front and rear. Over the winter I may play with the handling. My question is when I change to a different hole, should the bars be bearing the full weight of the car or can I jack up each end to make the job easier? Since I still have stock springs and shocks, I'm thinking of stiffening up the rear and leave the front on soft for less understeer. These bars really helped reduce understeer over the OEM bars, but of course, we're always looking for more...right guys ;-)) TIA,...and have a happy holiday season...HO, HO, HO!!!!! You need both wheels (L and R) off the ground at the same time though, so as too *not* preload the sway bar. So you can't just jackup the left rear to adjust the left side sway bar, since the sway bar is preloaded that way. As long as both sides are at the same level, either on the ground, or in the air at full droop, you should be fine. I am running my Eibachs with the stock springs right now, and I would agree that rear on stiff, and front on soft is probably a good way to go. But I have a set of H&R sport springs in the garage that should go on after christmas, along with some extra camber, so I am going to try full stiff front and rear and see how that works. Jacking up just one side at a time will make it more difficult as one side will be loaded and one will not. Thus, the bar will be torqued. So you have to lift the whole front of rear .....and I just realized that this is probably what you're talking about. Chester ===== __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
