However...I've always found it much easier (not that hanging is hard) whenever I change pads to just lean the calibur on top of the calipur bracket, up against the strut. Its never fallen off, and I dont have to remember the coat hangar, or spare wire. And, the brake hose remains nicely slack. I wonder if anyone else does it this way. --------------------------------------------------------- Paul Elliott '99 White M3; < 40K miles; Dinan stage II SC kit with 6" RMS crank pulley: 11 psi; AA Water Injection; Rotex pads;X-Brace; Stygar SS and Clutch Stop; Sound by Polk, Excelon, JLAudio

#5. Recalls? - from Richard Sperry

Date: Sat, 29 Dec 2001 10:09:50 -0500 From: "Richard Sperry" <richardsperry@home.com> Subject: Recalls? I was just looking at Carpoint.com and saw that they had place to check the recall history of my car. I look up my 95 ///M3 and it listed 4 different recalls 98V178000 Engine Cooling System For a new rad cap to control excess pressure 97V131000 Fuel: Throttle linkage and control Attach springs to throttle 96V111000 Brakes: Brake light Switch Replace brake light switch 94V151000 Seat and Shoulder Belt I assume it does not apply because I got my car after the recall (5/95) Now... I have never received anything from BMW about any recall. ( they did send me some nifty airbag warning stickers, so I know they know where I live.) I have owned the car since new, I am registered in the BMW owners circle, I have even stopped by the dealer, and asked the service advisor if there were any recalls, or TSB's that needed doing. She looked up the car and said nope... Could it be that none of these things apply to my car? Should I go back to the dealer with these recall numbers, and ask again, or should I just say fagedaboutit and drive the car until it explodes. ;-) Rich

#6. Shark Injector Question - from Carey Probst
Top
Date: Sat, 29 Dec 2001 18:25:25 +0300 From: "Carey Probst" <hcprobst@alum.mit.edu> Subject: Shark Injector Question Is there an easy way to tell if the Shark Injector program is still in the ECU or if it was replaced by the dealer? Last year the Shark program seemed to cure the really cold weather stalling problem but after having Inspection 1 done, it seems to be stalling again. None of the paperwork indicated a program change and I don't want to reapply the software if it isn't necessary. Though I never really noticed the problem on my garage kept car, I had the dealer apply the latest updates and sent the ECU back to Jim to re-shark (I had the programming before Shark Injectors.) I am not sure if more update have come out since then? Jim's programming does not _apply_ BMW updates b/c of possible copyright issues. If you are not sure what is in your ECU have the dealer flash the latest update (this is what I did) and then re-shark. Not sure how SIs work w/BMW updates, if you have already used it once, since the SI "saves" your factory settings? HTH some. Since we're talking about brakes (okay, since I'M talking about brakes), an Allen wrench to remove the rotor set-screw (don't recall size) and one of those nifty little twisty things to press the piston back into the caliper. Plus, gloves and a rag or two. Or, Castrol makes a great waterless hand cleaner. Patrick Sarne 1995 M3 <--recently sold
