I bought them because the Momo Street Racers I planned on installing were backordered for quite a while, and they came recommended by the Momo distributor. I think they're great seats and, because they're American made, sell for half what the Momo's do. I paid about $700 for the pair including a sliding base built for the E36. It's a great alternative if you were thinking of swapping out your factory seats. My only complaint is that the brackets that came with the seat have you about 1/2" off-center of the steering wheel (closer to the door). Nothing a little bit of re-welding on the bracket couldn't fix. -p

Well, it's not quite "Southern" California, but there is a three day event at Laguna Seca on the 6th-8th. I beleive it's put on my TracQuest, but I'm not sure of the price. I think the URL for them is: http://www.tracquest.net That's the only thing in California that I was able to find in February at http://www.drivingevents.com. BAD IDEA for a competition seat and I would personally not be caught dead in one. Tubular seats can break...if they break your body can be punctured and bad things can happen. I know this is not what you asked for... but here is something a bit different... Corbeau makes a race seat/shell called the "Forza" and they sell brackets/sliders for many cars including BMW. I ordered them from Apex Performance (you can find them through Google.com by searching for "Apex Performance Corbeau" in the search area). His price is something like $193 per seat which is discounted from the list of $220. Brackets are around $65-$75 (I think). The Forza is FIA rated. I found them through a friend who has the Corbeau Targa RS seat in his e-30 M3. The targa RS looks like a Recaro SRD type seat. Vince 89 M3 his 99 M3 hers 91 318is #255 LP/ITS MINE!! They show that for H&R OE Sport springs, you need larger spring hats "available at the dealer". Uh...any part numbers to go by? We installed H&R OE Sport springs a few months ago and the spring opening at the end was definitely bigger than stock...we just pressed the end of the coil to the landing area and hoped for the best. As a member in good standing with the Nor-Cal Shelby Club, I can tell you that if you are NOT a jerk, they will always welcome you and your BMW (except at the Mini-National Event which they limit to Ford power only). Check the web site at www.norcal-saac.org and click on the 2002 events calendar. This is a "top notch" operation and you will not find a more friendly group to deal with for on track events. I am not trying to be a wise guy... really asking the question. I also do not think all tube frame seats are created equal and most are not FIA rated. The Forza is FIA rated - I am not sure if this means it is safer than other tube seats or equal to another design, again a question. The SCCA magazine "SportsCar" did an article on race seats in Aug 01. One of the biggest problem sited was improperly installed seats. The best seat improperly installed is just as unsafe. The overall theme, was there was no consensus. Aluminum, tube/metal, fiberglass, Kevlar, etc. It seemed whatever manufacturer/distributer they interviewed/quoted had their reasons to say why their seats were appropriate. I guess the minimum for me would be FIA rated. Good assumption? Vince --- Mark Radelow <radelow@hotmail.com> wrote: > The Forza is a tubular steel frame seat. Date: Wed, 2 Jan 2002 16:12:23 -0800 From: <mroblin@att.net> Subject: RE: Power polishers - Porter Cable comments Yes, the Porter Cable 7424/7335/7336 is the random orbital polisher of choice for amateur detail freaks. Rotary polishers are more effective, but can cause significant damage if used improperly. If you go to the detail forums at http://www.autopia-carport.com/ you'll find quite a bit of info about them. I just got one, and can't wait to try it out. Best pricing online seems to be $120 at coastal tool, and some have reported pricing of $90 at Loews (sp?), which is an east coast big box hardware store. In addition, you'll want to get a velcro quick change pad, and some different sized foam pads for applying polishes and glazes. Classic Motoring Accessories, http://www.properautocare.com/, offers a kit for about $60 with all the pads you might need. You can find a video showing a PC in action at http://www.autopia-carcare.com/porcab74ulde.html. Happy polishing. Murray
