I negotiated a special package deal on the Euro headlights and brace for $660. Instead of buying the $75 factory cap nuts which I hear are bad about rusting I bought the JTD strut brace cap nuts for $50. The JTD cap nuts are showing no signs of rust and fit the Motorsport brace perfectly.=20 =20 Miles Hayes Old Hickory Chapter

Date: Wed, 2 Jan 2002 22:45:30 -0500 From: Andrej Dolenc <adolenc@erols.com> Subject: Re: Broken Seat Tobin or anybody else on the list who has gone thru this, The seatback release cable on my passenger's seat has apparently broken, as neither of the seatback release latches on that seat do their intended function. I found a fix by searching the list archives but I was hoping somebody could clarify one particular part of this, specifically the releasing of the upper lever that is described below. Can you elaborate this step? From looking at the lever itself, the lever part, what you move up and down, it looks like there might be a way of releasing just the part of the lever that sticks out and we lift. Is this what you're referring to? If so, where do you stick the screwdriver to release this lever? Or is the whole black lever assembly, along with the plastic piece it slides up and down on the one that is meant to be removed? I assume on the passenger's side the levers on both sides need to be removed before the seatback can be pulled off. I don't want to cause any damage in there by sticking in a screwdriver indiscriminantly and pulling on the lever! Any help in repairing this non-functioning seatback release cable is greatly appreciated! Thanks, Andrej '97 M3 > Don't despair. This is one of the easier fixes on our M3s. The 96+ M3 has a smaller front spring top diameter than the 95, and a correspondingly smaller upper spring perch. H&R makes separate versions of their Sport spring for each application, but only supplies the OE Sport to the 95 (larger) pattern. Therefore when installing the H&R OE Sport spring on a 96+ M3 you should also fit the larger 95 M3 upper spring perch, P/N 31 33 2 227 348 (qty 2 needed). You'll also want the matching rubber spring pads P/N 31 33 1 128 523 (qty 2). Neil 96 M3

I sold my Porsche just 2 short months ago thinking that I could drive the family station wagon around and not go through some kind of g-force withdrawal. Wrong! I'm looking for an E36 M3. Coupe or sedan is okay, but it has to be clean and relatively low miles with a 5-speed (duh!). Ideally, it would be somewhere in the southwest or west coast so I could actually look at it before I write the check. Anyone? Chuck Hanson Albuquerque, NM
