First, fold down the seat next to the side bolster. Next, grip the top of the side bolster and pull towards the front of the car. The side bolster will tilt outwards. It's hinged on the bottom so tilt towards the middle of the car and unhook the bottom of the side bolster. Now comes the fun part. Get a grip on the side panel...you can stick your finger in where the seat belt enters. Give a sharp pull towards you... Have a look at http://www.geocities.com/chester_p_wong/car_audio/side_panel.jpg To see the three plastic anchors holding it in place. Good luck, Chester --- Colin_S_Whelan@rrfc.raytheon.com wrote: > I was wondering if anyone had a set of instructions on how to remove the > interior arm rest trim panel located below the passenger side rear window > on an E36 coupe. Jim, I know you were pasting in from the webpage you referenced, but Derek Gardner was the Tyrell designer responsible for the P34 six-wheeler, not Gordon Murray. All of which drags me back to my formative years. Tyrell was the local GP team, just down the road. They'd occassionally trot out a car for special events locally. Like the McLaren F1, I was really suprised by the (even) small(er) size of the P34 when I saw it up-close. Murray did design the Brabham-BMW F1 Piquet won the F1 World Championship with (OBMWC). If you pull the flex hose off of the bottom of the reservoir to change the hose clamp, is there any special procedure for re-priming the system with fluid or chasing the air bubbles out of the system? How about if you replace the whole hose-pipe assembly? Kevin D. McLeaster WB9HMI '95 M3 Arctic Silver

#8. Valentine1 Upgrade Price?!?! - from Mike Tse

Date: Sat, 05 Jan 2002 01:45:19 -0500 From: "Mike Tse" <phid_bombadier@hotmail.com> Subject: Valentine1 Upgrade Price?!?! My friend just picked up another V1 for his "other" car and I noticed the new "more sleek" (Slightly thinner) design. Anyway I went to Valentine's website to check it out and discovered their upgrade page. I punched in my V1's S/N (My V1 is LESS than a year old!) and the price for upgrade would be...Cha-ching $189 bucks!! Double that and I can basically buy a new one straight out. I can't really justify spending a total of $600 bucks for 1 detector...$800 for 2 may be more rational?? (one of the latest flavor and one of the older generation...) Just wanted to tap into the collective wisdom of the people to see what their thoughts were. Date: Sat, 5 Jan 2002 07:55:19 -0500 From: "Wayne Miller" <m3@waynemiller.com> Subject: RE: [E36M3] Valentine1 Upgrade Price?!?! One of my bosses at work, a fellow M3 owner, was recently looking for recommendations for a radar detector and I told him that the one to get was a V1. He ordered it and when it came in, I saw that it was smaller than mine. It is about 1/4" thinner - basically the small ridge on the bottom was gone. My V1 was always just a little to large to fit in my glove compartment with the other stuff I have in there (owner's manual, small Mag Lite, etc.) so I was thrilled with the idea of a smaller V1. I ended up ordering the $200 upgrade and sending mine in. You only send in the detector unit, nothing else, and they immediately send you a brand new, unopened V1. Overall, I was very happy but yes, $600 total for 1 detector was a bit steep. What I realized that I could have done differently is sold my old V1 on eBay for somewhere in the neighborhood of $300 and then paid the full $400 for a new one so the total would be $500. Yes, it's still quite a lot but it's better than $600. When I was talking to the V1 salesman, I asked if there were any major changes in the works because I had heard rumors of a new V1 on some mailing lists. He assured me that there wasn't anything in the immediate future and the major change referred to was likely the new smaller case.
