This shifter w/the selector rod correctly places the shifter in the same EXACT position as the factory shifter except that it is lower. We took measurements before and after installation. You will still need the cup, yellow washers and clips if you are unable to reuse the old ones. Best offer over $75 + USPS Priority shipping. Thanks. S

#6. Coilover ??? - from Robert Manger
Top
Date: Mon, 14 Jan 2002 09:46:48 -0500 From: "Robert Manger" <Robert_Manger@Mastercard.com> Subject: Coilover ??? Has anyone had any experience with the new Bilstein PSS9 set-up? I understand that they do not make an application directly for our e36 M3( what a brain trust I tell ya), but it can be used with a different set of sway bar links. Any thoughts or opinions? Or should I go with the H&R c/o's? My main objective is to not get caught with a system that I find unacceptable, like going to the bil sports w/H&R springs and find them too harsh since, from what I hear they ride on the bumpstops too much or hack apart my stock suspension and put in koni inserts also not a real pretty option to me. I'd rather have the old suspension around as a safety measure. Thanks, Rob

Date: Mon, 14 Jan 2002 15:06:37 From: "Ron Buchalski" <rbuchals@hotmail.com> Subject: Re: tranny problem James, It sounds like your clutch isn't fully disengaging, so the tranny internals continue to spin, making it difficult to engage gears. To confirm, try this.... On level ground, with the car stopped, and the transmission in neutral, press the clutch and attempt to put the car into First gear, but don't fully engage the gear (just push towards First until you feel resistance). If the car moves forward very slightly, it means that the clutch hasn't fully disengaged. This may be solved by simply bleeding the clutch hydraulic circuit. Or, you may have a problem with the clutch release bearing, and it'll need to be replaced to fix things. I had this type of problem repeatedly on my E30 318i, and it was caused by the release bearing becoming mis-aligned in the clutch fork. In the meantime, you can try depressing the clutch and waiting a few seconds before you try to engage First gear. It may offer some relief. -rb >Date: Sun, 13 Jan 2002 23:09:52 -0500 >From: "James Mckenna" <shutupkid@home.com> >Subject: tranny problem > > >ever since i installed uuc's tranny mounts w/ enforcers and aa's POS >short shift lever ive got a grinding going into 1st gear 1 in 10 = >times.. >to solve this grind i shift into second before going into 1st, by doing >this i get a clunking sound from the differential 1 in 10 times... im >thinking this is due to installing a shorter shift lever without a = >shift >rod like uuc and re offer with their kits... what do you guys think? >i alreayd tried changing both tranny and diff fluids (redline d4atf and >75/90) didnt help... tia -james _________________________________________________________________ MSN Photos is the easiest way to share and print your photos: http://photos.msn.com/support/worldwide.aspx

When BMW developed the E36 M3 they started with the lessons learned from the earlier car that a flat piece underneath is necessary to counteract the lift. Although I can't say I could really tell the difference either when my undertray was removed all spring/summer. This includes a couple of driving schools. I *think* BMW actually has a new design for the plastic mounts that go into the frame rail. The P/Ns have changed and the new mounts do not seem to be as susceptible to cracking like the old ones. I am not 100% I bought the right ones but they seem to be a bit stronger. I can get the P/N if you are interested. -Justin -- '76 02 (Whimsical) '97 M3 (Orion) BMW CCA#77056 check out http://users.vei.net/jgerry

You have two options with it. You can get the system that offers the inserts or for $200 more they provide their own inserts and you get a complete bolt on deal. I personally would consider it before I would the PSS9 or a generalized coilover setup. By generalized I mean like the H&R coilovers or the PSS9 or something that every kit is the same for every M3 out there. The GC system can be custom designed by GC with your own spring rates and you still have the adjustability of the Konis. Another good thing about it is if you decide you want something stiffer and more track oriented then all you have to do is buy a new set of springs which is about $100-$150 for all 4. To me that is better than being stuck with the same spring rates all the time and only being able to adjust the shocks.
