Can > you say RIPOFF? These prices seriously suck, but it's not NASA's fault. The price of $250 per day is standard for every club that runs there due to the higher rental costs. Jim Bassett gave me a very good explanation of this the first time I freaked about Laguna prices. ;-) I'd rather spend my $500 on two weekends -- one at Sears and one at ThunderHill -- instead of one weekend at Laguna. But I may be the odd duck here. -peterg ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This message was sent using HiSpeed Technologies Webmail. http://www.hispeed.com

Maybe they just tightened everything up and that's resulted in the difficulty you're experiencing. In this case I have to agree with your supposition about what the dealer will say: sometimes it's just hard to shift into first. This is a relatively well known condition on M3's and I've experienced it on two of my other cars. Somtimes I depress the clutch a few times to get into first. The easiest "fix" I've found is whenever first doesn't want to engage easily, shift into second and then right into first. I think this lets the synchros figure things out (a real mechanic might be able to add something here).

I remember a few years ago people were suggesting an informational page to be sent to new list members that said things along the lines of "Jim Conforti's chips are best," etc. and I believe it ended with "and sometimes it's hard to shift into first - deal with it."

- John S.

Joe, if you unscrew the factory clutch stop so you can push the pedal down a little further, does it become easier to shift into 1st? On my other car, difficulty shifting into gears can be a sign of having the clutch engagement point set too low, such that it cannot be fully disengaged. - Chris

They're in perfect condition, but when I removed them I pulled off the 3M adhesive to make it easier to install in a new car. I'd like $40 for all of it, which includes shipping to the lower 48. PayPal is preferred. E-mail me if interested. -peterg

I'm putting in my new TCK 'Streetline' suspension next week (thanks Neil for the comprehensive instructions and tips), and have ordered the larger spring hats and matching top 'rubbers' from BMW to go with the H&R OEs in the front ... are there any other rubber pads or other inexpensive bits that I should also be replacing (front or rear) at the time?? Thanks, Doug ('99 M3)
