You can try getting the paper gaskets that go between the reinforcement plate and the shock tower (31 33 1 094 288 - qty 2). New self locking nuts for the bearing plates would be nice (31 33 1 092 887 - qty 6). New strut to control arm self locking nuts (32 21 1 095 267 - qty 2). New tie rod self locking nuts (32 21 1 139 078 - qty 2). #3. M3 Knocking/Clicking (was: brake pedal knocking) - from morris.michael@adlittle.com

Date: Wed, 16 Jan 2002 11:53:58 -0500 From: morris.michael@adlittle.com Subject: M3 Knocking/Clicking (was: brake pedal knocking) James, I was sitting in my car ('95 M3) last night waiting for someone and I heard a faint knocking/clicking noise coming from the drivers side dash about every 10 seconds. My car was warmed up as well. Almost sounded like the heating system clicking (not in the same place in the dash though that clicks when you turn the car off). I have no idea what it was but it was annoying. Please let me know if you discover anything. Anybody on the list have any ideas? Just use any old Grade 8.8 bolts? I seem to recall them having an unusual flange, but I could be wrong. I have a post saved that claims 2.63mm of shim will net an additional -1.0 degree of camber. Sound about right? andy r. 98 m3/2

As needed, and as storage permits. I was able to tighten the aluminum nut on my front Konis with an adjustable wrench, but it's come lose again, as the wrench is too wide to get enough turns on the nut. A smaller, open-ended wrench would work fine (I'm sure I can manage about 80 ft lbs as recommended by Chester), but I don't have the proper size. Anyone know the correct size for my big blue aluminum nuts? ;) Also, it was recommended to me by someone to use Loctite on these to prevent further issues. If I were to use the less-strong version, would that be a good idea? Thanks! With those, I was actually able to use factory bolts. Date: Wed, 16 Jan 2002 10:12:28 -0800 (PST) From: Joe Tan <mailjtan@yahoo.com> Subject: Re: Difficulty shifting to 1st gear Firstable, I'd like to thanks everyone who reply to me with ideas on what could be the cause of my shifting problem. The most common suggestion is that make sure my clutch pedal is all the way down. So, I believe that the reason is because the new clutch changed the engagement point on the pedal to be lower, and since I was used to the engagement point on the worn clutch, I was releasing the clutch pedal too high when I shift into gear. In the next couple of day I'll try to change my clutch/shift timing by making sure that I have the clutch pedal all the way down when I shift and see if I continue having any problem shifting into first. Does this make sense to you guys? Joe. '98 M3/4 with new clutch:) __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Send FREE video emails in Yahoo! Anyone with a lightweight more open (to allow cooling) set of rims they would want to trade? These rims have practically new P7000's on the front and practically new RE730's on the rear. Date: Wed, 16 Jan 2002 14:49:19 -0500 From: morris.michael@adlittle.com Subject: Dent and Vibration Hello List, I came home last night and found this dent in between the "kidneys" in front. I have no idea where it came from -- Any ideas? http://www.intensepicts.com/BMW/dent.html (Please excuse the dirt and residue on the car, good ol' New England weather!) And, more importantly, has anyone ever replaced and/or repaired the center carrier bearing? I get this weird vibration at low RPM's, and it feels like the driveshaft is flopping around underneath me.
