The crimped style BMW nuts are single use. > New tie rod self locking nuts (32 21 1 139 078 - qty 2). Not needed. There's no reason to remove the tie rods. Or do you mean the swaybar link bolts? Another thing to note is that the two strut to steering knuckle lower bolts are single use, according to BMW. That's because they have microencapsulated thread locking compound on them. You can reuse them with Loctite instead. Neil 96 M3

Hi, Can anybody recommend a good upholstery shop here in LA or environs...(even San Diego)? I'm thinking of getting the driver vader seat redone. Has anybody done this and what are the results? Is it better to reupholster or are you better of just buying a new seat? Anybody with info on reupholstering? OK, sounds like I need to shop ahead then (industrial supply tend to be closed weekends). Anyone know the size, pitch, and stock length offhand? I'd guess it's an M12 x 1.5 x 25?

I'd estimate that it's about 18mm, but I'm not certain. It's the nut that's visible on top of the strut tower, which holds the strut in place (surrounding the adjuster). Someone else said that there's was brass, but didn't know the size. My rep at ProParts says it's aluminimum (which is what it feels like), and mine's definitely a light blue color. I replaced my front Konis recently (unfortunate encounter with Buick in parking lot...) and the new ones have a regular old steel nut. Aluminum is a piss-poor material for most fasteners. Neil 96 M3
