This is true. When I was doing events every month it was fine, since I was bleeding every event anyway, it worked great. You're right, for a street car it's overkill, but so is the ATE. The valvoline Synthetic from any autoparts store is really cheap and works great. -kit -------------------------------------------------------------------- mail2web - Check your email from the web at http://mail2web.com/ .

If the pedel is firm then the fluid is fine. ATE Blue is nice becuase it has high wet and dry boiling points (though the dry is the only one that matters for frequently changed fluid) and, more importantly, the blue color is extremely helpful for replacing the fluid. -Matt --- "kitwetzler@mindspring.com" <kitwetzler@mindspring.com> wrote: > Date: Wed, 23 Jan 2002 13:04:25 -0500 > From: "kitwetzler@mindspring.com" > <kitwetzler@mindspring.com> > Subject: brake fluid > > > > ATE Blue for the brakes. > > I don't know why y'all like ATE so much... Is the luxury package really as rare as these ads would >indicate? In the US, 4-door M3s were produced for MY 97 and 98, but the luxury package was discontinued for 98. So, you really have MY97 to choose from and perhaps, only 50% or so came with the luxury package and quite a few came with automatic tranny, if that matters to you. Since she likes the luxury interior package, you can always add it. On the 4-door, the difference is minor, i.e, wood trim, extended leather trim on the doors and chrome interior door handles. Unlike the coupe, the seats on a 4-door are virtually identical except the luxury package came without /// M tricolored stripes. AFAIK. Things like "wood trim" aren't really popular on a performance car. But you can get the equivalent. i.e.: Leather/heated seats, On board Computer, remote entry, the Li wheels. Harmonn-Kardon sound. =20 My 2 cents on it as an owner of a 98 2-door: =20 Pass on Harmonn Kardon and spend the money on an aftermarket system. = You will get a much better value for your dollars.=20 =20 I have every available option on my car with the exception of xenon lights and wheels (I have the stock 10-spokes). Holding the button down disables the yaw control which I think is the difference between ASC and DSC. So straight line acceleration wouldn't be affected with the yaw control still active, but if you tried to kick out that rear end you would feel the computer intervention. Paul

Top
Date: Wed, 23 Jan 2002 15:12:46 EST From: HYPERM3@aol.com Subject: DSC Button on E46 I discovered this scenario when reading the tech section in the recent roundel. My buddy with an '01 330 sport complained that he felt the traction control kick in when he had pressed the button and it was lit ie:turned off. Well, after the most recent snow storm we found an empty parking lot and tried the different ideas. First try was whole system on and full throttle. The car spun quickly then regained control not sliding in any direction and not spinning again. ASC and DSC were working. Second try, hit the button, lit up on dash. Full throttle tires were slipping but getting traction, however, car was sliding left and right. DSC was off, ASC was working. Third try, hold button for 5 seconds. Light on dash and Brake light on dash comes on. Full throttle, tires spin furiously kicking up snow and the car slides, try to administer corrective steer while still full throttle, car does 180. ASC and DSC off. Well, that was our findings, not sure how this works on M models but im satisfied with my report. Again, this was done in an empty parking lot with no other cars around late at night. Would not try this with other cars present. Alex "HyperM3" Demsky 97 M3 SC
