Ground Control camber/caster plates AFAIK, Kmac plates do not allow easy asjustment. These are also resold under the Turner Motosport name. These are also supposedly the only ones you can use with stock spring diameters. GC units are supposed to be real nice and you can adjust them on the car (or so I've heard). I think the same goes with TCKline stuff, but both of these can only be used with the smaller coilover springs. They will all transfer more harhness as they forego the stock rubber and replace it with spherical bearings. I've seen the bottom of KMac ones rust from being exposed through rain and snow and salt. If I were anyone considering these, I'd smear some silicone sealant in there on the bottom, let it cure, and then pack grease from the top. The silicone will stay flexible enough to allow for the range of movement necessary and will prevent water and and crud from contaminating the bearing. #3. : Rear Shock Mount problem? - from Paul Elliott

Date: Sun, 10 Feb 2002 23:35:56 -0500 From: "Paul Elliott" <elliott.paul@worldnet.att.net> Subject: : Rear Shock Mount problem? HI Mark, >>I have a similar sound that I get in my car...a weird clinking that occurs going over small road irregularities as slow speed...say coasting down my driveway. Very annoying. At first I thought it was the rear head rest...if you wiggle them they will make a similar noise, but I pulled those out (actually they pull up and out..extend them as high as they will go..and grasp both rods..squeeze them together a bit and wiggle as you pull up.) Anyway, after I got them out the noise was still there. If I lower the rear seats...it is even louder. My next step is to tear out the trunk and rear seats, then sit in the trunk as someone drives up and down my driveway. BTW, I changed the RSMs to E46ers and it didn't help.<< Youve got my problem!!!! I sat in the back as my friend rode, took out the rear side bolster next to the folding seat, and determined its behind there....But the sound is NOT the sound Id imagine a rsm to make...Moreover when I jacked up the car, the mount seemed rock solid, and banging on that area in the top of the rear wheel well produced no such sound. If its not the rsm and its not the headrest pillars, then its a real mystery...PLEASE keep me abreast of anything you come up with in your searches, and I'll do the same.....By what youre saying, your clink must also sound like its right there over your left sholder as you drive..right in the cabin with your, and yet, it defies discovery...No real 'resonance' as you would have with a suspension or an exhaust knock...just a clink clink just like when you jerk on the seat belt...... talk to you soon. Date: Sun, 10 Feb 2002 22:16:19 -0800 (PST) From: Gerry Miranda <gerry_miranda@yahoo.com> Subject: Diff/Tran fluids and Redline Thanks for all the responses!!! Well I finally decided that since I'm having only minor shifting issues after 60K miles of the same fluid, BMW must know whats best for the tranny. So, I got the dealer to replace the fluid for a total out the door ... taxed...car washed and vacumed...and a loaner...for $64... No bad since ordering from BMP, the redline d4 atf cost me $30 shipped with all fees. And I'm good till 120K miles and not second guess the health of my tranny...by the way, the shifting is now like new again.... Gerry 97 M3/4 _____ Do You Yahoo!? #7. Snow tires vs. Summer stickies - from Chester Wong

With the Dinan I can > exceed those speeds in my snow tires Pirelli Assymetricos snow...and > they are narrower than the ao32s Isn't this the oddest thing? Let's see a show of hands...I'm able to break the rear Pilot Sports loose with my LTW flywheel just by slowly engaging 1st so that the car is rolling and just stomping on the gas (Pilot Sports are mounted on 8.5" forged wheels). With my Pirelli snows (225/45, I think), I can't break the tires loose in 35 degree weather using this method (snows are mounted on 7.5" double spoke wheels)!!!! So what gives? Is it the taller tires of the snows (225/45 plus the deeper tread)? Is it the soft compound? The car, however, feels much more visceral with Pilots Sports on, though... ....but the car should be producing more power with the colder air. Odd.... Wayne Miller made this observation with his snows and an OBDII cam kit! Just an interesting observation Chester ===== __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? The dealer did an alignment according to Dinan specs, apparently included with the install. They also set the tire pressures accordingly<< I love the ride...to me, its much stiffer, but also much more compliant at the same time...Sound like a paradox? Not really...The bumps that were crashing over with the worn stock shocks now are absorbed beautifully. The cornering is much improved as well...My friend has a '99 like mine, and i drove his the other day to compare, and his stock susepension is still good, and I had forgotten how nice the stock suspension can be before its gone....I still like the Dinan better than even the good stock, because its definitely stiffer, even though they said they set it at max soft. I like everything about it...All except for the clink clink Ive picked up somewhere behind the area of the rear seat side bolster. I dont know yet if that is attached to the suspension or not.... >>as a side note the e46 325 i loaner i had was unbeatable in suspension comfort, compliance, ride, and that connected feeling. Susp performance was excellent....<< I would disagree with this very much though...I also got an E46 325 loaner, and I walked away from it, shaking my head, saying when did BMW turn into Buick?! It was soft...It leaned. It was totally isolated from the road...I really hated it... >>Performance: I was running Yoko Ao32R during the summer and I know the speeds I can take certain corners around chicago.
