A red NSX (dont know who it was) = with coilovers, Hoosiers, exhuast and brake pads ran high 2:17s which is a damn good time and I have yet to see an M3 run that time (with similar mods).=20 =20 At Limerock a Zenardi version ran 1:02s all day long (driver is the biggest component). Dont forget that Senna had a lot of input in the suspension design. NSXs are consistenty rated as one of the best handling cars. In 1997 Top Gear (British car magazine) tested over 20 cars and rated NSX #2 (behind Lotus Elise) best handling car and I = think it got the fastest lap time (beating Dodge Vipers, Griffiths, F50 etc etc).=20 =20 I LOVE my car, and I have driven the NSXs hard and with all due = respect, it is a superior car than ours in terms of performance. Its also 300 pounds lighter but not as practical daily driver as our cars.=20 =20 =20 Ahmad A. Lutfeali 97 M3 Coupe w/stuff =20 =20 =20

#6. Re: NSX - from KLchmn@aol.com

Date: Wed, 13 Feb 2002 10:18:15 EST From: KLchmn@aol.com Subject: Re: NSX A few observations from someone who has driven both cars. The NSX and M3 are both very nice cars. Daily driver choice: M3. Money not an issue: NSX. Just don't try and take much with you in an NSX as my Z3 has more trunk room! If you haven't driven or ridden in a well driven NSX, you should. The steering is so direct that one car mag writer said (paraphrasing) that it is like holding a tie rod in each hand. (paraphrase off -- my words follow) I love the engine noises as it screams right behind your ears. The brakes, however, are not up to the challenge. M3 brakes are superior. On the track, a well driven NSX will give an M3 all she can handle, unless the track is an autocross course disguised as a race track. For those of you on the west coast, get a ride in Dan Tackett's NSX. Then you'll understand what a well driven one can do. They are wonderful cars, just like our M3s are. And as for the generalizations on tarted up NSXs and their drivers, well, we've all seen BMWs (including M3s) that we could make the same comments about. We are fortunate to have a superb driving school program that helps us all develop our skills. If the Viper/NSX/Corvette, etc. clubs ever get our level of instruction, then it would be much harder to pass everyone! #9. H&R coilovers - from kitwetzler@mindspring.com

Whacky. The way it was explained to me is that the top coils coilbind as soon as you put the car down, so the active coils are really only the evenly spaced linear ones in the front. but, hey... I've been wrong before. :) (once or twice maybe... ;) Where did you get the linear rate springs? the fronts are standard 60mm race springs, does Eibach make 60mm springs? -kit, who wouldn't mind stiffer springs in the rear -------------------------------------------------------------------- mail2web - Check your email from the web at http://mail2web.com/ .
