I have no experience running rims with a negative offset that low as I run 17"x9" IFGs, one with a 40mm offset and the other 41.5. The lowest offset that I have heard used was by Robbie Kollar and Mike Lawrence who were running 17"x9" IFG rims with a 35mm offset and had no real problems to speak of. The benefit of a low offset is that it eliminates the need for spacers. The problem it introduces however is that it widens the track of your car (potentially stressing the wheel bearings) and you will definitely have to roll your rear fenders. I don't know if a 32mm offset will make that problem even worse. #2. Warped Rotors - from Steve D'Gerolamo

Date: Sat, 23 Feb 2002 09:49:25 -0500 From: Steve D'Gerolamo <steved3@idt.net> Subject: Warped Rotors Several people on this list have sent me back rotors which they claimed were warped. However, measurement confirmed they were within spec with material deposits that were causing the brake pulsing. It is important to measure the disks with a runout gauge to properly diagnose the problem. Occasionally, with fixed piston brake upgrades, I see thickness variations in the rotors which is often caused by runout in the bearing/hub assemblies. However, with the stock floating systems, the problem is generally material transfer. I can fix both of these problems in the shop (see http://www.ultimategarage.com/bbrotors.html ) but material spotting can often be removed through the various field remedies described in your posts. So if anybody is interested in the 245/40/17 Michelin Pilot Sports that comes on the car with no more than 50miles on the tires...send me an email and I'll put you down on the llist when the time draws closer. If you can do a local pickup...it would be even better. Thanks Daniel Houston, Texas __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! Date: Sat, 23 Feb 2002 08:27:31 -0800 (PST) From: Kerry Tully <bayoubimmer@yahoo.com> Subject: Re: Warped rotors Another thing to consider regarding warped rotors is your calipers - on older, high mileage cars, especially with ALOT af track miles - rebuilding the calipers is a good idea. I have a 95 track only car which I never had a rotor warping problem until recently. We went through changing pads, rotors, different brands, etc. etc. and $$ to only still have the problem. Plus I have a custom made brake ducting system, and had not changed my braking "technique.". Well it turned out the rubber boots inside the caliper were in very bad shape (i.e. nearly melted), plus the pistons were really dirty. When the piston can't rectract property, the hot pads can stay too close too the rotors when not braking. Plus the brakes just felt crappy. Now it feels like I have new brakes and I haven't had warping problems since then. Btw - I have also had problems with pad material transfer to rotors, especially with Pagid Orange endurance pads. They did stop great but I wouldn't recommend them because of this - hte material tranfer was excessive. Kerry _____ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! Rob, I have 4 17x9" SSR et45mm wheels, and I run them with a 10mm spacer in front. They fit fine in front. In back, they fit fine after I rolled the fender at home just a little, but that's with 255/40 Kumho Victoracers. You will have to watch the rear fender clearance with your 32mm backspacing, but you should be OK in front, and not need the spacer I use. #10. Bad Flywheel? - from Matt Henson

Date: Sat, 23 Feb 2002 11:26:33 -0800 (PST) From: Matt Henson <hensonator@yahoo.com> Subject: Bad Flywheel? Well the clutch saga continues (we're at weekend 3 and counting..). While re-installing my stock flywheel I noticed that the friction surface part can rotate like 20degrees with respect to the crank part. The outer edge moves about 1.5-2 inches easily, by hand. Is this normal? BTW, I also replaced the knock sensors due to code 1226 (knock sensor #2). The old sensors were both cracked. As always, Thanks.. -Matt __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! Sports - Coverage of the 2002 Olympic Games http://sports.yahoo.com
