Peter Windsor will provide reporting from the paddock. While I always thought that the Speedvision crew (Steve Matchett, Sam Posey, David Hobbs and Peter Windsor) were a tad goofy, I couldn't believe how much I missed them during the USGP when we had Jason Priestly and "That red car would be one of the Ferraris" crew... They are also showing practice and qualifying on Thursday and Friday. Hopefully they will keep this level of commitment for the whole season. I also recommend hitting the Speed Channel web site (www.speedtv.com) and surfing around the F1 area. Most marketing departments will use hit numbers as a measure of interest. They (Speed Channel)also have been having on-line surveys and I've noticed the high hit-rate the F1 questions are getting. That's very encouraging to me, hopefully SpeedTV will notice the level in interest in racing that's not on an oval. Jeff

#8. Brake Pad Friction Materal Transfer - from Paul Elliott
Top
Date: Mon, 25 Feb 2002 20:30:53 -0500 From: "Paul Elliott" <elliott.paul@worldnet.att.net> Subject: Brake Pad Friction Materal Transfer Weve been talking about this subject for awhile, and I wanted to impart some information to those who are experienceing this problem. I found this weekend that by going through a bedding in process again, the steering wheel vibration problem at 60-70 mph while braking has disappeared! I did several (about 5-7) stops of increasing pedal effort from about 40 mph to almost dead stop, allowing just the time it takes to accelerate slowly back up to 40 again...Then, I did 2 or 3 very hard stops from about 40-50 each time braking hard enough so that its just short of triggering the ABS mechanism. Then, I took it out on the interstate, and found that the judder was completely gone! I doubt this will hold up for long, but it was nice to have it dissappear...It also reaffirmed the idea that rotor warpage had nothing to do with it. #9. Dinan K&N replacment - from Paul Elliott

Date: Mon, 25 Feb 2002 20:33:37 -0500 From: "Paul Elliott" <elliott.paul@worldnet.att.net> Subject: Dinan K&N replacment Has anybody done, or is anyone aware of where I might find some instructions for servicing the K&N filter from a Dinan Supercharger system? I believe the best way if you dont have a lift is down from the engine compartment rather than up through the splash shield... But Ive done it before, and found that theres not alot of room to maneuver, and it can be tricky....Maybe removing the headlight might make it easier, but Id like to see some instructions or personal experiences to compare notes. Thanks.
