However I'm planning to keep the RD swaybars, X-brace & strut tower brace." I just love this list. Luis's comment speaks for itself. We are such maniacs that sometimes it's good to laugh at ourselves. I suppose it's good to train the GF now that if she signs on for the long haul, she'll NEVER drive a completely stock car. Heck, even my "mommy Caravan" has Koni's (they really helped, too, now those brakes...)! Dave Hogg

The one's > for my stang are 4 point, much better." Huh? Depends where the 4 points are. If the Mustang bar also has triangulated mounts to the firewall, as well as the crossbar, then your friend is absolutely right. Of course bear in mind that the Mustang's chassis, based on the 70s Ford Fairmont, needs all the stiffening help it can get. Neil 96 M3

Date: Sat, 02 Mar 2002 13:53:57 +0000 From: bmwm3nut@att.net Subject: 2 point strut bar You can't compare body structure rigidity between a Mustang (any FORD) to any BMW. I bet you my 83 320i has a stiffer body than the same year Mustang. The reason why they have to ahve a 4 point bar is b/c their body is so limp. -- Tim Ng 95 YELA/BUZZN/M3 92 325ic M-Tech "ULTIMATE TANNING MACHINE" 91///M3 "SUNNY DAY CAR" 88///M3 "TRACK CAR" SICK ENGINE 87 325IS PARTS CAR HOT ENGINE 83 320i "back for sale, buyer never showed"

Date: Sat, 02 Mar 2002 13:59:44 +0000 From: bmwm3nut@att.net Subject: faster wheels I just swapped out my 17x8 SSR comp. with Yok-a-032r (235-40) to my street Dinan (Fikse) 17x 8.5 wheels with Khumo 712 (245-40) I weigh both sets. SSR= 38.5 # Dinan=47 # Do you think I can feel the extra 10# / wheel. YOU BET The car feels slower off the line. I have to slip the clutch very slightly to get the rpm up just a tiny bit more (LTW flyw) to get off the line. The car is a bit slower till about 20 mph, then all is fine. In handling, with the different tires, I can't make a fair comparison. The Yok is sticker than almost all street tires even when they are cold. BUT boy are they noisy, almost makes me feel like I am in my E30 M3.(I like louder cars) Just my opinion:0) -- Tim Ng 95 YELA/BUZZN/M3 92 325ic M-Tech "ULTIMATE TANNING MACHINE" 91///M3 "SUNNY DAY CAR" 88///M3 "TRACK CAR" SICK ENGINE 87 325IS PARTS CAR HOT ENGINE 83 320i "back for sale, buyer never showed"

Date: Sat, 02 Mar 2002 10:04:41 -0500 From: Richard Sperry <richardsperry@comcast.net> Subject: Wheels Chester, I am surprised by you. You forgot the differential. I think my 95 ///M3 has a 3:15 ratio. so it takes 3.15 turns of the engine to rotate the wheels. Rich ------SNIP----------- Date: Fri, 1 Mar 2002 18:18:43 -0800 (PST) From: Chester Wong <chester_p_wong@yahoo.com> Subject: Re: [E36M3] faster wheels Hmm...I think you have something mixed up. A larger overall diameter wheel and a lower overall diameter wheel affect the "final drive ratio". For a give diameter wheel/tire X, the circumference is pi*X. Is our tranny ratio 1:1 in 5th? I think it might be. Anyway, so in fith, one turn of the engine will be equal to one turn of the wheel/tire and you will have traveled pi*X inches. Now if you have a different wheel/tire of diameter Y, you will travel pi*Y inches.

Also, this weight difference will effect stopping power and rebound time from your strut/shocks. I've been told my 6 lbs. per wheel/tire(SSR/Kumho V700) is huge, and I can feel it too when I autox!
