Do they change the fluid at Inspection I? If not, then I've got 4 years and 32K miles on the same fluid. Perhaps I can get the dealer to top off/replace it... drew | whiney '98 M3/4 -- Date: Thu, 7 Mar 2002 13:14:00 -0500 (EST) From: "john_stoj@excite.com" <john_stoj@excite.com> Subject: RE: [E36M3] driveline whine How many miles do you have? I had a similar situation on my '97 at only 27-28k (also a diff. noise at very slow speeds/tight turns) that was rectified by diff. fluid change.

- John S.

_________________________________________________________________ Chat with friends online, try MSN Messenger: http://messenger.msn.com

With the Clifford I can lock, arm & close with > one button. Lawyers. The E36 sunroof lacks a pinch sensor. You have to hold the key to the right until the sunroof is all the way closed. You have to hold the sunroof switch until the sunroof finishes closing. Inconvenient, but safe. BMW doesn't want you to install a one-touch close, and I'm sure Clifford has some fine print about how this feature should only be used on cars with pinch sensors. So if your Unsafe At Any Speed sunroof decrapitates someone, it's your fault. The E46 sunroof has a pinch sensor and one-touch closing. -- David Ripton dripton@wizard.net

With folks in the back seat, or over big undulations, the backs will rub a little. A very mild rolling back there will take care of that. (R-tires are wider and on a lowered/cambered car will require rolling all 4, and spacers in front.) Dave Hogg Fikse Fan

Date: Fri, 08 Mar 2002 9:55 -0500 From: "Sean Silva" <sean.silva@crbard.com> Subject: RE: Advance Design Racing Shocks Vern, Let me return the favor for all your useful input regarding my suspension upgrade a little while back. I made my decision (factory-built Koni double-adjustable coilover system) based on input from many people, including you, Ron Katona, Steve Hazard, Bob Tunnell, and Jim Leithauser. These last two guys run a shop in Colorado called Bimmerhaus (www.bimmerhaus.com) and they carry both TC Kline and Ground Control products amongst other brands. After researching this subject it is my understanding that Advance Design racing shocks are very high quality but aren't nearly as adjustable as Koni DA (ie. Advance Design's shocks' 3 clicks don't change the valving nearly as much as Koni's 12 clicks). The Advance Design shocks must be great for the track, but shouldn't be as good as Koni's for the street/track combination I was looking for. Both the Advance Design and Koni DA coilover systems are the same price so it depends what you're looking for. Hope that helps. Also, I have to take this opportunity to communicate just how utterly impressed I am with Bimmerhaus. I have never had a purchasing experience (of any type of product) that was more pleasureable. They are extremely knowledgeable, utterly courteous, and offer unparalleled customer service. When you're considering upgrades for your car call them and you won't be disappointed. I happily give them my highest recommendation! -Sean Silva

He was trying to remove the lock that someone else has installed. He tried it by hand with another key and it was deforming. So he took a chance with the gun and a fresh key and it zipped it off with no problems. I'm sure that the plan was to re-install them properly with a torque wrench. -Matt --- George R Carr Jr <georgercarrjr@earthlink.net> > > It's only a question of time. It's what my local dealer (Steve Thomas BMW, Camarillo, CA) tries to get their customers to go with instead of the factory system... they're out of Westlake, I think. I was actually able to have them set it up so that I could hit the "Aux" button which now does the same as holding the key in the door. The sunroof and windows close. My alarm, however, won't "double lock" the doors or lock the gas cap door. I have to use the key in the door to do that.
