Some of you probably know this already, but Im bringing it up because the last time I asked on this board, I was told that there are very few engines using forged pistons or rods, and that the vast majority, including ours, are cast. This afternoon, I came across a BMW technical reference bulletin which pertained to the 1995 USA M3, engine designated S50 B30 US. Its a 10 page technical document which states on pg 5: 'Forged connecting rods are used which measure 135mm in length.' I dont know if anybody is surprised by this, but I was. I presume that our OBDII M3 engines would also be using forged connecting rods...Im sure those of us with forced induction are especially glad to hear this. Jim, I thought Sonax Gloss Shampoo went out of production about 2.5 years ago. Am I mistaken? If so, where are you getting it. Last time I was able to buy it was from Larry McReynolds at carcareonline.com. He limited me to one bottle as he was going out of stock with no hope of getting more... ===== David Kroth david_kroth@yahoo.com __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Just recently, like in the last 6 months. I think the issue was FDA approval or something, not that the product was out of production. See: http://www.carcareonline.com/sonax_gloss_10901.html I used the P21S product in the interim, which was very good, but I prefer Sonax. See ya, Jim

Or so it says here:( http://www.tunnellracing.com/thook.html ) Any suggestions, words of advice, medival prayers I can throw at my car before I strap her down and mess up something in my suspension? Thanks, Jason

#6. Wheel vibration - from Mo Karamat

Date: Sun, 10 Mar 2002 21:58:11 -0500 From: Mo Karamat <karamatm@optonline.net> Subject: Wheel vibration I have a 98 M3/4 that I just had Bridgestone S03-Pole position tires installed on. And I am having the same problem that Paul did. I get a slight steering wheel vibration between 60-70. I have taken the car to two shops, and both tell me that the wheels are balanced. Does anyone know a shop like the one he mentioned in the Morris county area? Thanks Mo

I used Sonax at Larry's recommendation. I think for about 3 years. Now I'm using P21S. To be honest, I can't tell the difference from one car 'shampoo' to the next. But, from what I recall, Sonax is a whole lot cheaper so I'll buy that again. On the other hand, I love the P21S Paintwork Cleanser and Carnauba wax, after having used Meguires Gold Class, Blitz, Zaino, and Finish First. Jeff 97 M3/4, happily clean and detailed this morning and finally free of racer's tape residue

I trailer my M3 with the front straps tied to the rear-most member of the X-brace, and the rear straps through the wheels. I've done CA->CO and back twice, and the alignment hasn't changed, etc. It works for me ... -- ______________________________________ Andrew E. Kalman, Ph.D. aek@pumpkininc.com

It really doesn't matter what the wheels are made of (although it's aluminum). From a cleaning point of view they're paint. Neil 96 M3
