As a former S2000 owner, I know this. I've also seen folks learn this on the track. One guy, over and over again in the same weekend. I witnessed each of three spins, and winced each time. Our M3's are downright stable and user friendly by comparison. No excuse for idiocy behind the wheel, though. The JTD piece covers the areas where the plastic side parts - often referred to as porkchops, due to their shape - used to be. Since they do have an aerodynamic function which isn't assumed by the JTD shield, that can't be said to replace the porkchops. Some people ahve modified the porkchops to fit with the JTD shield, but that doesn't work well in my experience. Neil 96 M3 - reinforced stock splash shield tested to 140 mph.

Yeah, I'm a fan of those alright - as soon as I get my fishing boat, I'll have the nicest chrome anchors. <splash!> The dealership that has that "Nightmare from Planet HIN" is actually not too far from me, sorry to admit. Usually they have very respectable cars (as you can see in the background pics), lots of semi-exotic machinery and the owner (Dave) is very knowledgeable. In fact, I bought an Alfa from them about 10 years ago. So if anyone really has some masochistic hankering to own that car and needs someone local to check it out, I suppose I could do a drive-by. JUST a drive-by, I can't actually be seen examining that car up close. Imagine - strip out that interior, put on some real wheels and suspension, and you could have the best-painted track car around! - Rob Levinson UUC Motorwerks * http://www.uucmotorwerks.com * 732.398.0001 (lots of new M3 goodies coming soon!) > Date: Mon, 11 Mar 2002 15:13:25 -0500 > From: "Dorffer, Rich" <RDORFFER@CleIndians.com> > Subject: I am sure this is right for someone. > >> David posts an Ebay ad for a 'pristine' 1995 M3. > > Got to love those huge Niche wheels (or something like them, I don't know my > mammoth chrome wheels too well).
