Sounds like you have an OBC, but installed a taillight that was designed for use w/o an OBC. Nick ----- Original Message ----- From: "Darling Christopher Maj AMC/CEXR" <Christopher.Darling-02@scott.af.mil> To: "E36M3" <e36m3@bmw-m.net> Sent: Tuesday, March 12, 2002 10:16 PM Subject: [E36M3] Taillight Glitch Here's a riddle for some of you old heads--now that I think about it, I think I remember seeing something about this a couple years ago . . . I replaced my cracked taillight assembly on my 95 M3 and screwed everything together. Fit perfect, looked great. Tested all the light functions and they all worked as advertised. The problem is the diagnostic message center: "TAILLIGHT FAILURE". Hmmm. I check the wiring harness plug, and it's all secure. Then I pulled the plug off again and compared the socket in the old taillight to the socket in the new taillight. The old plug socket has 7 pins, but the plug socket on the new light has only 6. WTF? What is the fix for this? I talked to Steve D, and he was as surprised as I was. He's going to research the issue in the morning. BTW, my production date is 10/94, if that matters . . . TIA, Cod

I wound up ordering one since I'm sure I'll be using it quite a bit in the future. Anyway, the next day the check engine light was gone. Will I still be able to read the code when I get my tool? Thanks again...

Gruppe, I'm getting ready to put on Koni SA's on my car this weekend, trying to gather all the pieces I'll need beforehand. I'm trying to verify that the nut at the top of the front struts is a 23mm one, correct? Now if I can only locate a 23mm deep socket I'll be closer to ready.. Thanks in advance, Andrej '97 M3 with stock suspension for only a few more days (hopefully!)
