I think they also frequently use timing systems like loops or photoelectric sensors, etc. This is good to know, though.. I have X band off, as I have not seen legitimate X-band radar in washington state in years, even in my ventures to eastern washington.. but pretty much any time I hit the open road, I re-enable X band, better safe than sorry. I just hate all the xband falses around town, they're not too bad on the highway. When I do turn x on, it's so weird to hear that beep.. I'm not used to hearing that tone! I HATE the fact that so many stores use k-band door openers now.. damn bastards. What, X-band wasn't good enough for this purpose? I think they should all use pressure mats anyway, I don't like the ideas of our airways being polluted 24x7.. just seems there are too many unknowns about the risks of RF radiation. I'll make sure I leave x-band enabled for my first few months when I move.. best to learn the territory, then disable X-band ONLY if you don't need it. FWIW, as for red lights.. not sure where you live, but in washington, it is only illegal to enter the NEAR side crosswalk on a red light. IE, if you hit the near side crosswalk, you could drive through the ENTIRE intersection on red and have it still be legal... - reid

The entry form has the "NASA beginner textbook" listed at $20. Anyone have this and care to comment on whether it's worth buying? I have also talked to Korman and they said they still sell the stainless steel pistons, but they are currently out of them. Their supplier wanted them to order a huge replenishment quantity, but Korman instead ordered their usual small re-order quantity and the supplier has basically placed them at the bottom of the queue. Korman has no idea if/when they are going to get them. Just to keep everyone informed..... Paul sells at a substantial discount for all internet orders. I can usually get items shipped to my door for about half the price my local dealer charges (of course, here in metro Detroit, they charge 120% of MSRP). No way, not the way those people drive... ;-) Seriously, the only "textbook" you need before a NASA school is "Going Faster". -peterg (10 days driven with NASA so far) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This message was sent using HiSpeed Technologies Webmail. http://www.hispeed.com
